Activity: 0% Longevity: 32% | | USPS lost 50 item shipment of mine. WTF?
Just realized a shipment I dropped off last Wednesday containing 51 individual items all disappeared.
All items were accepted and show leaving the post office I used, but nothing after.
Anyone experience this? not sure what to do... value of all this was in the thousands.

Big packages seldom get lost, due to weather,it could be rerouted, call 1-800-usps Customer service, they see more tracking than we do
where is it going and where are you?
if they are going to 51 different zipcodes and there is no tracking, you better let the post office knows.
they should start tracing what happens, when were they loaded on the truck, who handled it??

That's not normal and I assume for that many shipments it wouldn't be hard to follow.
USPS has an internal scan on their computer that we customers don't see.
If you haven't already, I'd run to the post office first thing in the morning and have them search and call that center where the last scan was.

I had something similar happen once and at the same time there was this news story about a postal truck bursting into flames on a local highway. Found out that all the packages were on that truck to go to the sorting center. They were not insured so I was told I was out of luck.

Amazing that a company, let alone government run, works like this. I'll never understand it. We are essentially paying extortion or bribe money, to make sure their jobs right lol. We have to pay them extra, so that if they mess up, they have to pay us for their mess up. Does this actually make sense to anyone else? It's like paying the mob protection money, FROM THEM.

What happened to you, is insane, but thankfully exceptionally rare. Something really big had to happen. Did you at least get the packages scanned within your handling time? 50 late packages will destroy your account.

I suppose if you ship 100 items a day, it might cost you a few extra $100 a month, but if you're selling 3000 items a month, you better be making some decent money for all that effort.

My mail carrier once scanned ~150 of our shipments as being "picked up" in Lake Worth, FL. We ship from a couple states away from FL. None of the shipments ever showed anything other than being "picked up" in lake worth. I had to refund nearly all of the customers. After a month those shipment slowly started being returned to my mailbox.
One small screwup by a postal employee can have drastic effects.
This doesn't sound that bad though. Sometimes we have shipments go out that aren't scanned until they reach the destination post office. Tracking doesn't always work like it's supposed to.
Anyway, I don't think your 51 shipments were lost in a void. They're probably in transit somewhere. Either they will start showing updates soon, they'll never show updates but your customers will receive them, or they'll all be returned to you. There's also a slim chance they could all end up in the mail recovery center where they would be opened and the contents auctioned off.

I once had a bunch of packages scanned IN, as delivered.... Buyers were not thrilled seeing that notification lol. " your item has shipped". An hour later " your item has been delivered".
As far as mail recovery. You'd think they could see invoices inside and contact people.... Still can't believe that they get to keep the fruits of their own mistakes. " oops, scuffed this box that says rolex watch. I can't see the address now. OH WELL". These *******s make an extra $11 MILLION a year doing this. Of the 88 million items per year that goes through that department, a mere 2.5 million actually make it. That's less than 3%. The rest get auctioned off FOR PROFIT.

I've had them scanned in as delivered also. That's also a bit of a nightmare, but at least when that happens the shipment will continue showing normal updates as it moves. The one time my carrier screwed up the zip code where the shipments were picked up, they just never did anything. It's like the sorting facility couldn't make sense of why the shipments were picked up 800 miles away, so they just decided to sit on them, lol.
RE the MRC, I'm too far away but I go on govdeals all the time to see what kind of stolen merchandise they're auctioning off on a given week. They'll group together lots of iPhones and auction them off for pennies on the dollar. Makes me feel sorry for the poor sucker who originally shipped them. I first became aware of their practice when I was reading a story a few years ago about an author who shipped a box with a few hundred of his books. He shipped them media mail and they went missing. Took him several months to figure out what happened, but he eventually found his books being auctioned off on govdeals. :/

Yup
True. I remember back when I used to do the high-volume/low profit method, and would ship 7000+ packages a month. A quarter increase would have HEAVILY cut into my profits!
I know the prices raised for first class, but I can't even really identify how much. and I used it everyday. lol
