Default Location location location.

Selling on eBay seems to have one thing with the real estate industry in common, namely the item's location.

One of eBay policies is that writings on pictures are not allowed, yet millions of listings have writings on them --> policy is not enforced and eBay doesn't really care much.

Is the item's location policy something you could mess with? Or will misusing it by claiming false location bring unwanted consequences?

All of my shipments are small-large untracked letters that weigh no more than 17 oz and.

The reason I want to dodge this policy is because stating the real place where my item will be shipped from will reduce both sales and visibility even though I can 100% guarantee delivery on time and customer satisfaction. Putting the real location will simply make my listing disappear from search

What do you think?

I had no problem either with buyer and eb when i used different location in Europe for European account , but for instance if the item located in Europe but you use US location to encourage US buyers it can be caused both negative feedback from buyers and account suspension

I want to list my item on eBay.com, will setting the item's location to Germany reduce visibility in search?

I can deliver my orders from Germany to the US within 3-4 days no problem, but I need to show up in search to get the sales!!

These days with COVID-19,overseas shipments coming into USA could take longer due to US customs clearance,
I shipped 2 identical packages on same day, same time to Germany ,one delivered and one is in German customs, why?
content is salted almond?

99% of the transactions will be hassle free and customers won't end up paying any import duties as the value of each package will be less than 30$ for sure. Shipping will also be fast because I will use priority service.

So in theory, 99% of customers will be happy and have no complaints at all.

I see lots of Chinese accounts having their listings show up in search and they all have their item location set in the US

The other issue with delivering from overseas is not just the timeframe, but the potential issues that can happen at the border, as well as possible import fees the buyer may need to cover.

Not really advisable to lie about the items "send-from" location but to each his own I suppose.

EDIT: I see in your post above that you say there won't be any issues, I've shipped thousands of packages from China that sometimes is delivered faster than shipping domestically in the USA. The problem is we can't promise there will never be an issue. Out of thousands of shipments, you may have a few issues with customs and all it takes is 1-2 bad customers to want your head on a stick to get Ebay to investigate your account, and possibly shut you down.

If you think it's worth it, I suppose it's your prerogative.

There's no doubt that they promote top rated sellers and we all know one of the key requirements to get that status is delivery times.

Of course you may have a unique product in which case your visibility might be pretty good. I guess you'll have to give it a try and find out one way or the other like I did.

What do you mean by not willing to pay for visibility? I logged into eBay.com using my German account and made a listing-draft, it was exactly the same as on eBay.de and there was no option for paid visibility.

You mean promoted listings?

Did you list on eBay.co.uk and made international shipping available? Or did you log in to eBay.com and listed there directly?

------------
There are some FBA for Chinese sellers in California .or may be they are just dropshipping from those locations.
But back to you,I dont know what you are selling but have you thought thru how the return works,as you dont have a place in USA to collect these items?
If you say your item is in USA,then Ebay expects them to return to an address in USA which you dont have,or it will be sent to a ⊗⊗⊗⊗ address you gave Ebay

I don't ask buyers to return anything, I just issue refunds and close such cases as my return rate is mostly around 1%.

You mean different locations in the US, right? My question was will setting the item's location of my eBay.com listing to be in Germany reduce visibility in search as US buyers are first shown items that are physically located in the US?
