| | | indielad | 04-26-2020 02:56 PM | DHL delays from China I've been having trouble getting my supplier to move stock from China for around 2 weeks. The cost of sending it out has shot up and the waiting list is long to get on a flight. My supplier said that is a worldwide problem. Anyone else having trouble getting stock in from abroard? |
| walkingupwards | 04-26-2020 03:22 PM | Re: DHL delays from China There is no workaround for this, it is what it is :-/
You could use truck shipping to the UK, takes around 20-25 days and is way cheaper. |
| indielad | 04-26-2020 03:42 PM | Re: DHL delays from China Do you mean Surface Air Lifited? (SAL)? It was quite a useful way to send things before, but my supplier said all manners of shipping are frozen at the moment. I'm curious what's causing the current hold up, it was working fine a couple of weeks ago. Is it shipping of PPE from China to other countries using the flights or theyve actually been suspended? |

You didn't have to pay extra for the stock though? Perhaps your supplier decided to absorb the extra cost. |

Are you serious? I know transit times are normal once the shipment is picked up, but for DHL to pickup a shipment it is now taking up to a week or maybe even more.
Please tell us more about your situation, how many days did it take for your shipment to get picked up? |
| e2free | 04-26-2020 06:00 PM | Re: DHL delays from China We have own dhl account and use to be when dhl pick goods from Shenzhen Friday we use to get it monday but now even of they pickup on Tuesday its Monday delivery.
Had few shipments coming tomrrow
No delay even pickup for dhl |
| 997turbo | 04-26-2020 07:06 PM | Re: DHL delays from China as I mentioned before
suppliers in china signed for different shipping agent, companies like DHL handle their 80% of collection to agents,if their agents are weak, during such times they will given up on fight and tell customers to stop drop or drop only 20% or 30% whatever anymore packages and caused a huge delay.while other smarter and harder working agents still be able to keep up.
Ask your supplier to change shipping agents. |
| burbur | 04-26-2020 11:40 PM | Re: DHL delays from China my suplier sent seome items with dhl around 17 days ago. it showed "Shipping information received" for 2 weeks. after that it was normal and the items almost arrived already.
3 days ago he sent another parcel and it has the same status now like the one which was sent 2 weeks ago.
Ive been told that chinese goverment forbid to export masks since they are low quality so. they caused the delay |

This has been consistently the case for me too. Average wait time of 2 weeks before DHL shipments are picked up.
UPS is about 2-3 days before pickup, fedex/tnt is about 5 days. :juggle: |
| walkingupwards | 04-27-2020 07:04 AM | Re: DHL delays from China The exports of medical equipment have clogged the system and flooded the world with faulty gears as everybody in China jumped on the train and wanted to make money selling masks and gloves, hopefully it will get better soon! |
| phaz0rz | 04-27-2020 07:10 AM | Re: DHL delays from China Fingers crossed.
For what it's worth the situation already seems to have improved a bit in the last 2 weeks. It was brutal for a while there. |
| walkingupwards | 04-27-2020 08:40 AM | Re: DHL delays from China I think the situation with regard to cargo planes will get better in few weeks, the problem is the lost cargo capacity due to the halting of commercial air travel as these airplanes used to carry a lot of cargo along the way.
In 1918 the Spanish flu was under control until the restrictions got lifted, I am worried about a 2nd wave of this virus, this is why I am definitely going to stock up as summer fades away. |
| phaz0rz | 04-27-2020 09:00 AM | Re: DHL delays from China I've been going out of my way to live my life like covid-19 doesn't exist. Seems more and more like data manipulation every day so I quit paying any attention to it and started focusing on my own operation again. It's been working out well. Screw covid and the mass stupidity it's brought on. It's disheartening hearing people beg to have freedoms taken away in the name of "public health." A lot of these people don't understand the implications of what they're saying needs to be done. It's sad. So, I'm done with covid for now. It's almost like we are witnessing the aftermath of 9/11 all over again, just with a slightly different root cause and different characters playing the game this time around. |

| Steveo036940 | 04-27-2020 02:18 PM | Re: DHL delays from China I've noticed shipping costs have really increased, big time. It's gone so high that shipping by sea may be the only option to reduce costs enough to still make money selling stuff. Airfreight is slow these days due to flight shortages, so sea shipping might not be a bad alternative. |
| phaz0rz | 04-27-2020 02:25 PM | Re: DHL delays from China Express shipping costs haven't gone up all that much for me.
The latest quote I got was : UPS-75rmb($10.58)/kg, DHL-70rmb($9.88)/kg. From what I can tell that's only $1 or so higher than usual. What are shipping quotes looking like for you guys? |

Governments don't have money to give away to people, they are "governments" in the sense that they have the authority and power to collect taxes (real value produced by people) and then distribute these taxes however they please. Every country around the globe could in theory print as much money as it please and be the richest government on earth, but it doesn't work that way.
The government printing trillions of dollars is like you drawing your credit card to pay your bills --> you will have to pay it back. The government will have two options to pay what it printed back:
1. Raise future taxes (The most probably scenario)
2. Inflate the debt away by letting the dollar lose more of its value
Have you ever seen Warren Buffett talking about taxing the "wealthy"? They will label everybody who makes more than 200k a year as "wealthy".
Under this communistic system taxes have no option but to go up and up :shhh:
The COVID-19 plandemic is not over yet, I think we have at least two more years to go  |

I used to pay 5-5.4$ per KG for DHL EXPRESS :pop2: Air freight prices have gone up 100% :bounce: |
| indielad | 05-07-2020 05:45 AM | Re: DHL delays from China Just asking for any updates on my thread a few days ago on the ongoing situation of COvid-19. My supplier is still saying DHL channels are still blocked with PPE orders bound to the UK, and DHL prices are sill extremely expensive. My supplier is not only just worried about the cost, but also that the chances of the parcels getting lost are higher. What's everyone elses' situation like curently? |
| phaz0rz | 05-07-2020 06:24 AM | Re: DHL delays from China DHL performance has greatly improved but prices are still high. It's taking 5-6 days now to get shipments instead of 3 weeks. We haven't had anything lost... just one shipment held up for a long time with fedex. |
| indielad | 05-07-2020 06:36 AM | Re: DHL delays from China Thanks, It's been like amrmageddon out there for getting stock in since January. At least there's hope if things are gradually getting better. |
| phaz0rz | 05-07-2020 07:28 AM | Re: DHL delays from China Still feels like armageddon for me with the MP rollout threatening 95% of my current sales, but hey, shipping is getting better or w/e. :/ |

I have an account in too but it has the least volume of all my accounts. My concern is when I'm forced to apply with the rest of my accounts. :violin:
I guess it might work out somehow. |
Re: DHL delays from China Send pick up to chinese contact from your DHL agent. The shipping will start from China and not from hong hong...they want to use their shipping agent because giving the shipping to agent that will start from hong kong will be money saving in a given fiscal aspect. So if they tell you can't send your logistic please tell them stop to say bull****!
The reason of the late shippings is about queue in hong kong custom for the parcels coming from china mainland...you need to avoid starting from hong kong |
Re: DHL delays from China I have 3 shipments leaving out of Taiwan and it has taken a long time. The oldest since 04/25 and still there. Anyone else waiting this long? |
| Wing081 | 05-24-2020 07:44 PM | Re: DHL delays from China Confirmed there are huge delays from China. Prices have about doubled. I ship 3 to 4 packages air freight a week. I have some packages taken a month to arrive. Some packages takes a week to two to even be put on the airplane. Some packages once its arrived in the destined country, will take another 1 to 2 weeks to be delivered. Crazy things. Paying more but shipping time is slower |
| prodigyace | 05-24-2020 09:36 PM | Re: DHL delays from China Ive waited a little over a month to get my goods picked up, but once it was picked up by UPS it took about 3-4 days to get to my city from China. Should be delivered Tuesday since tomorrow is a holiday in the USA |
| Steveo036940 | 05-25-2020 09:41 AM | Re: DHL delays from China UPS is also terribly slow in comparison to DHL these days. Pricing is also a concern as DHL is cheaper today, not because they've lowered their prices, it's just that UPS has raised theirs. Tomorrow DHL will raise prices making UPS cheaper for the moment.
There's a huge backlog of shipments in Hong Kong just waiting for airplanes to pick them up. Shipping costs will continue to rise and service will be slow as long as the coronavirus is around...a very long time I'm afraid.
I have been doubling up my order quantities over the last month in preparation for Christmas holiday sales... who does that in May?
The way I see it is anyone who doesn't start now will be caught with their pants down in 6 months, especially if Hong Kong has an uprising (they're starting) or China gets a second wave (probability is high). And Trump... no telling what he'll do to screw up trade with China. I like Trump, but he's just crazy. |

I dont know what you guys buy from China, have you checked in your local wholesale district ,the items may have already arrived ,
or check with wholesalers online outside China-Canada,US,UK, | It doesn't matter what anyone sells. As people support their favorite suppliers in China over a period of time, you always buy at the right price. They take care of me as I take care of them (by supporting them) Any local wholesale district, US suppliers, etc charge up to 30%+ more. (About the same net profit you'll earn on Ebay after fees, shipping, materials, etc)
So price is EVERYTHING in order to make your margins. This holds true for every business, not just Ebay. |

| indielad | 06-06-2020 04:35 AM | Re: DHL delays from China Sorry to keep bangong on about this, but it does seem an ongoing problem...
My supplier has just given up getting stock out at the moment and she says similar suppliers are doing the same.
I sell bulky clothing with variable profit margins.
SHe says the currrent fee is $4 per kg over normal PLUS a $4 waiting in line fee.
I've told her the next shipment (skimpy summer clothing) are next to worthless if they arrive in Winter, though they will be red hot now as restrictions are easing and buying their Summer clothes onnline allied with the beautiful weather in England recently,
Is there any signs of the DHL ports easing a bit now and prices falling a bit from their peak? |

Also packages need to be under 35kg, and multiple boxes to 'break' up the weight. My supplier has got it nailed but man its expensive. I've had to stop selling items that are heavier in my inventory as the profit has been erroded somewhat in those because of this. |
