is it possible to refund the buyer more than he paid?
 

hello. i sold an item
item value 540usd
shipping 45usd

item arrived damaged and the buyer opened a case without contacting me first. i did not have any email from ebay somehow and therefore i lost a case

the buyer have the item and the money and have no obligation to return the item

the thing is the item is useless in that condition

i contacted the buyer and offer to return the item to me. i offer to cover his shipping cost

he agreed only on one condition. i have to refund the money on that specific transaction when he bought the item. he refuse to return the item if i give him money as goods and services

the question
is it possible to refund the buyer the way he ask? please help.
i want my item back and i have to douts the buyer is honest

You said the buyer has the money and item. So why do you want to refund them again? Do you mean just the return postage? If it is the postage, how can you refund them on original transaction, that is not possible. If you do not think buyer is honest then provide them with a shipping label not funds or they might keep those and not send back. They might not send it back anyway.

you can ask him to list it as BIN for 99 cents and you buy it from him

no, it's not possible at all, and he's being ignorant. Providing him a label is the only way you can go about this.

dont know where your buyer is,can you ask a carrier to go and pick up the item.

This is not an answer.

At this point, even if you give a label what are the chances he'll actually return?
The only way now is through eBay dispute he opened, you accept the charges, but ONLY if he returns the item

Sounds like they didn't respond to the dispute because they didn't see any emails from ebay about it, and then lost.
