I don't know, it is so ridiculous that it feels as if some covert agent is wrecking things from the inside.

I mean does it really take 3 weeks to get such a glitch fixed?!! Everytime they boast about their team of "specialized engineers" that is working 24/7 and nothing is getting done.

My best selling item has turned into a nightmare, it used to bring me 60 sales a day and today I got 2 so far.

UPDATE 2:

This is not a glitch, this is how eBay will function from now on. They've implemented this recently and they want to show buyers the most relevant photo in search... How is this calculated you may ask? Well, it depends on your cookies and your purchasing-behavior.

Congratulations everybody, the eBay you knew before is over and there is nothing you can do about it. They told me they ran questionnaires before the implementation and they are of the opinion that this will lead to more sales not less.

Re: Huge glitch on eBay affecting everyone and leading to lower click and conversion

Just noticed this on a listing for a watch strap. I can see it being annoying, but I can't imagine why it would possibly kill 80% of sales. The listing is still there. The title is still there. The listing specifics is still there. Not having the same main picture, isn't going to kill 80% of sales, let alone if the new pic is a pic of the most sold thing. If that's the thing people are buying mostly, then those same people would still be buying that thing, at even greater rates if anything.

Explain why you'd lose 80% of sales because of this, especially if it's happening to everyone else. That is A LOT of sales from that category that just disappeared over night. Are those people no longer looking for that item, where a single picture now leaves them completely lost? I mean, no offense. I just can't figure out why it would cause this much problems. Even 50% would be excessive. But almost all of your sales are gone?

I totally understand your viewpoint, but I am not alone in my claim:

Not as far as I've seen. You know what trick you can do? Use the main picture as the first picture for every variation. It's annoying, and time consuming. But if you're saying you're losing 80% of sales, it's MORE than worth it.

The thing that makes this glitch nasty is that it hammers your click-rate and once that drops your sales will nosedive.

I tried doing that as well, but it didn't work as customers were utterly confused after clicking on the listing and finding themselves viewing the image #18 of the listing. I learned one thing about shoppers' behavior in the last few days, most of them are not willing to go through your listing's images one by one, I would guesstimate they view the first 3 or 4 images and then decide whether to make a purchase or not.

Hopefully this will get sorted out soon, I was nervous it would drag on for weeks to come. I read on eBay forums that this glitch occurred back in 2015 and it took more than a month to get fixed at the time.

This is very interesting as I noticed this around a week ago as I started selling a product with 10 variations my main picture hasn’t been showing only picture of variation brought by a customer.

My sales have not slashed from this sellers in this field are selling 10-50 per day lol.

It does need to be fixed as main pictures created by sellers can boost sales further and on Monday I will go to eBay live chat about this issue.
