Man, they claimed managed payments would make things cheaper than using paypal. BULL****. paying 12.5% fvf on the customs fees a buyer pays, is insane. I don't even understand how that's legal.

Didn't know they did that.
That IS insane and I agree with you - theres no way that can be legal.
How on earth can they justify charging the seller FVF on an amount that is charged as a tax by the government?
That makes absolutely no sense whatsoever.
Are you SURE that is the case?

Are you SURE that is the case? | 100%. They say so on the site. FVF on the TOTAL amount paid by buyer. Only exception is for more expensive shipping, if you offer cheaper domestic. And even then, I had to fight with them today because I was charged on over night shipping, even tho their site clearly says that shouldn't happen.
As far as FVF on tax. I just thought it was only for US sales tax. That was bad enough. But it's also for countries that charge VAT. Which is WAY more than sales tax. They were claiming it's cheaper because it would cost more if they had to do is separate. Or that paypal cost more to do it. I don't even think paypal charged for the sales tax taken out. But even if they did, it's just 3%, not this ****en 12.5% theft they are doing.

Final value fees
We charge one final value fee when your item sells, and you don't have to worry about third-party payment processing fees. This fee is calculated as a percentage of the total amount of the sale, plus $0.30 per order.
The total amount of the sale is the entire amount the buyer pays, including any handling charges, the shipping service the buyer selects, sales tax, and any other applicable fees. If you offer 1-day or international shipping as well as a cheaper or free option (like domestic shipping), the total amount of the sale is calculated based on the cheapest domestic option you offer. If you only offer 1-day or international shipping but no cheaper option like domestic shipping, the total amount of the sale is calculated based on the service the buyer chooses.

The idea was, that since ebay is doing the money collecting, they need to get their processing fee cut. Because money is money. But on what planet does that justify them charging the ENTIRE 12.5% fvf on the taxes? How are they doing 500% more work than paypal, with their 2.5% transaction fees?

Were they charging their FVF before MP though? i.e. 10% was charged as FVF before they switched to MP? cause in that case nothing changed.
Sucks either way and smells highly fishy... class action lawsuit coming soon? How can they charge the seller for taxes??? realy is crazy...

Yup slokor is correct you have been paying in your monthly bill commision on taxes collected, so that makes them paid tax collectors unlike the sellers who are unpaid tax collectors.
I am currently moving my business to Walmart, 8% fees on what I sell although paid every 2 weeks and also etsy which is only 10% paid weekly.
Amazon and eBay are screwing the sellers now big time, wait and watch Walmart they have their eye n the crown and with only charging half the sellers fees they will get there. Plus the added bonus of only US sellers at present.

Paypal is a payment processor,it charges a fee on the payment processed,it does not make any difference what the payment is for,as it has to pay a fee for processing your payment.
But Ebay should not charge FVF on tax, customs duty.
why is the Ebay seller collecting customs duty, should the buyer pay when the item arrived?

As far as I can tell, this is a new thing. Let alone for customs fees, which can be 2-5x the price of sales tax we normally deal with, plus the 1.5% international processing fee. It's one thing to charge a transaction fee for handling the money, but we don't even touch taxes. At least with shipping, that's a service we provide. Still ****ty they charge FVF on it, but more understanble.

why is the Ebay seller collecting customs duty, should the buyer pay when the item arrived? | There are some countries that require ebay to collect those fees themselves. Australia and New Zealand come to mind. The shipping labels even have a code attached to them corresponding with that.

Well that's just bullshiit. I was pissed when I realized PP was including it in their fee calculations, but now with ebay hitting it with 4-5x that amount.... something needs to be said/done about this. If you are right...

I mean... I can kinda get over it, if they include it in the processing fee. Like PP does. But the FVF? Phuck that shiit.
Most my items are around the 300ish dollar range. 7% sales tax is $21. 10% FVF of $21 is $2.10...
I will not be happy giving them an additional $2 of my profit per transaction! |

I will not be happy giving them an additional $2 of my profit per transaction! | Some states have almost 10% sales tax. so that's $3 extra. Trust me, I AM right. You can see the fine print on ebays own website. I copied it directly from their site.
