Default UPS to UK. How to pay customs charges?

Hi,

I have ordered an item valued at $80USD into the UK via UPS.

Does anyone know what the process is for paying the duty? Is there an online process (like there is for DHL)?

I have looked on the UK UPS website but can't seem to find anything.

Thanks in advance.

I called in to pay mine - this sounds ridiculous but I found that the same weight / description / value declared for DHL and UPS packages, I would incur more customs charges from DHL!

How it works god knows. Had a package come yesterday, declared at 180$ - no charges....!!! Eh?!

Thinking to ask my supplier to declare it at slightly less value

Do they hold it for 24 hours like DHL until the duty is paid?

The package you had at $180 - expect an invoice to be posted to you. I had something similar. Eventually received an invoice for customs duty about 40 days after delivery.

Gave them a call this morning.

Cash or cheque to the driver on delivery or pay by card over the phone.

They will also delivery straight away and not hold the parcel for 24 hours like DHL will.
