Activity: 1% Longevity: 68% | | Nightmare of a buyer
Yet another absolute nightmare of a ebay sale.
I sold a PS4 in full working order. I stuck my own warranty void stickers on the rear of it, as I've always done due to scammers.
Buyer receives item and opens a return, in the return he states "PS4 stopped working, took it to repair shop and they said its damaged beyond repair, seller damaged the ps4 fitting the 1TB hdd". He uploaded pictures of the PS4 motherboard and the HDMI port completely removed and 3 pads missing from this.
I contacted ebay and they told me that I should accept the return.
Really?
I am going to receive back a PS4, opened, warranty void stickers removed and HDMI port missing?
Ebay is just getting so bad now for me.

Just has a similar one. Buyer bought some floor mats for a Range Rover. Then, somewhat naively, asked if they could return them as they were selling it. I played along (was only about 3 weeks since purchase, they have the right to return) and said they could as long as they were unused with the original packaging. Informed them the return would be at their own expense as it was a change of mind.
Buyer opens 'not as described' case with ebay, ebay provide a pre-paid return label, I get a set of used muddy mats back in a binbag.
Rang ebay only to be told I need to refund and I could report them to (maybe) protect others in the future.

Last year i sold 1 used PS2. Buyer received it 10 days later. 1 week after receive it he opened a return request stating "Item not as described". He said that ps2 stopped working. Before send it to buyer i stuck hard warranty void stickers and stated it clearly in listing return info. He opened the ps2 and sent me pictures, i resent those pictures to eb CS and finally they denied buyer request because he violated warranty terms.
Maybe i was lucky.

Maybe i was lucky. | It amazes me because I've been on live chat twice now and they all insist the buyer should return the item to me.
Despite him leaving me positive feedback to say the item is great.
Despite him posting pictures of the removed circuit board in the return case AND removed HDMI port..completely desoldered.
Despite me showing them pictures of the consoles VOID stickers before it was dispatched.
Despite all the evidence stacked against the buyer, they still insist he has to return it.
I am bemused.

That's how eBay works, they side with buyers 99.91% of the time.
Those sellers who won their disputes are considered lucky.

there is no way to prove pictures match the item shipped/received,if the item does not work, void warranty means nothing, unless you are selling for parts and salvage.
what these buyers are doing is looking for a free replacement, report the buyer,if he does it too many times,Ebay will remove his buying privilege as he is a hazard to the Ebay seller community

Then opened a case to say it stopped working.
Which proves it was working.

If you think you are right, then get the item back and resell,
There is this saying-DONT SELL ANYTHING YOU CANT AFFORD TO LOSE ON eBAY.
bUYER CAN say it is working but then it stops working, buyer has 30 days Ebay MBG,180 days with PAYPAL AND HIS cc issuer to file chargeback

One thing both sellers and buyers do not realise is that an item may be working when seller tests it,what is meant by testing-flip on a switch, print a page, watch the lights .type a few key words?then seller just bubblewrapped an item and ship in a box with no original packing material, internals could be damaged/dropped or loose during transit.
it is not like the manufacturer refurbished the item back to like new condition and ship with those styrofoam cartons inside a box.
Fed Exp at one time said they are not responsible if electronics are not shipped in original package.
thats why some sellers just list the item under parts and salvage,to avoid INAD dispute

1. He left positive feedback to say it is working and he is happy.
2. He noted in the return case that it stopped working (this was after a week)
3. He is returning the console OPENED, with the HDMI port DESOLDERED from the circuit board.
4. It was shipped in its original box, I deliberately over pack things too!
5. I can afford to lose it. But Its also justified to expose and fight scammers.
So how do I resell it on once hes tampered with it and removed components from the circuit board? BTW, he's damaged the circuit board by removing the HDMI port as he showed me pictures of the pads the HDMI port solders to completely removed. Apparently he has till tomorrow to ship the item or the case gets closed. Tomorrow is Sunday.

You can try appealing.
Feedbacks means little, some buyers use automated feedback system, some will leave feedback before they receive the item,it is all automated.
if you want to continue selling, make sure you make enough to eat some losses, we all run into cases like yours.

Ebay have just now refunded the buyer as they claim it was delivered.
Nothing has been received.
Now I believe this is a scam.
I checked the tracking information and it appears the buyer has shipped the item to himself !!!!
He lives in Scotland and I live in England. THe item did not leave Scotland according to the royal mail tracking information. It was delivered from his local delivery depot.
Unbelievable.

Just about to get scammed AGAIN on EB.
A 2 year old tablet used every single day without a fault that I sold is apparently faulty. Never had a single issue with it. Was a little suspicious of this buyer as soon as he bought it as looking at his EB account he appears to sell tablets for a living. Swapped parts around perhaps?
Lets see what I receive back with this one.. or what I don't receive back if the last scam was anything to go by.

Welcome to eBay, don't list it. Unless you can afford to lose it.

For the most part though, most buyers are actually good people. It's just that 1 bad professional buyer is what we pay attention to

The good news though about the first scammer....
EB refunded me out of their pocket.
It took me a while, I had to speak to several live chat operators until I found one that understood the evidence I supplied.
Well, its not GOOD news as the scammer got away with doing it. I have just emailed them now threatening to take court action unless they resolve it. Little do they know EB gave me the money back.

I cannot check buyers accounts before they pay as I don't know who is going to purchase from my eb account.
If you mean why I didn't check his account before dispatching the item, well, does everyone do this before shipping an item? I don't.

Do not sell anything on ebay you aren't willing to lose.
