Hello
so we know if 1 account reaches the 85K then you get a red message restricting until you upload a vat number

my question is - if we had x2 accounts both in same name and address and each were under £85k

BUT combined they were over £85 would ebay link them as same VAT enitiy or would they stay separate

same thing if one account hits the £85k

would you get the message on both accounts - if the other was under £85k?

You shouldn’t have two accounts with same info.
You can have as many accounts as you want to, by going stealth. You can find your way to become a stealth master in this forum but it takes time. It’s a long trial and error thing but you can find you way. Wish you all the best!

Stealth is now hard because of the mp

we have real info of trusted person running 1 account but was going to open secound account to keep under vat threshold - hence the question

I also have more than 1 account in the same name and eBay hasn't touched them. Running 40k plus in sales a month on one of them

can we have x2 accounts same name running under £85k each but combined over £85 - will ebay see the accounts as same name same income and restrict account for upload of a vat number?

Ebay won't do anything because each account could be for a different business you own. Of which both is allowed to reach 85k individually before registering for VAT.

Doesn't matter how many businesses you own, if you're running them as a sole trader it is you that is registered for VAT not the businesses so in theory yes, they should add them together.

Exactly, ebay don't want to get in to the nitty gritty details, as far as they are concerned each account is for a seperate business, why would they think otherwise, they are not the IRS or HMRC. It's less profit for ebay to "guess or investigate" and ban you themselves, let the government do that job.

Just as how facebook / twitter / instagram don't care about your feelings if a troll abuses you online but the moment somebody is breaching copyright or there is a financial loss to be had they fix the problem quickly.

I just wanted to clarify your comment that each account are allowed to go to 85K. They can't.

They have agreed with HMRC, as have Amazon and Etsy to be vigilant in monitoring VAT evasion under threat of penalty and legislation. If you are running two sole trader accounts and they link them they will add them together. If you go over 85K combined then they will suspend you.

It's all done through your business details (UTR/self assessment), shouldn't be too difficult for them to link if your separate accounts are legit particularly as they're using MP roll-out to verify this kind of info.

Would I take two sole trader accounts with same name and address over 85K in total, no chance. Go stealth or go Limited Company ... or register for VAT.

As you said though, will ebay cotton on or even care if you do it, who knows?. The chances of them making the link will surely increase as they move accounts onto MP.
