Selling for half price and below???

So i can't figure out another seller. He sells the same items i sell but he sells them at BELOW what i buy them for. For example an item i sell for $60 and costs me $30 wholesale he is SELLING with free shipping for $22. He isn't ruining my business or anything like that. He just sells a few at a time and goes away. But i'm curious. Is he money laundering? I cant think of any other explanation. I actually tried to buy from him directly since he sells cheaper than my distributor, but he has his listing set at "only 1 item can be purchased every 10 days".:noidea:

Are they ⊗⊗⊗⊗?

Re: Selling for half price and below???

if he has no impact on your business I wouldn't worry about it and wouldn't waste time even thinking about it. You don't know what his sources are or whether or not they are legit (more than likely they are not which will explain the price hes able to offer them for).

Re: Selling for half price and below???

He could also be selling them at a small loss to gain positive feedback, which is why he only allows 1 per customer

That makes a lot of sense with the 1 per customer. Making sure he has a better chance of feedback with loss instead of a lot of loss

THis is why you create more than one buyer accounts and buy them up. profit

I have an account where I sell on consignment for a Chinese company. They had a member of staff who was pilfering, sending to a family member in the UK and then selling on Ebay

It took them 9 months to work out who it was and when he was sacked the listings stopped

I wouldn't worry about it - just keep paddling your own canoe

Solid business strategy if the profit is good :)

Have you since received the one you bought? If it's not phake (or whatever requirements you need it to meet), make enough buying accounts to buy as many as you need from him. If it's feasible.

That's feedback building. At first I thought he is not selling well and just wanna liquidate, but that 1 every 10 days is usually feedback building strat

Re: Selling for half price and below???

if retail is $60 and wholesale is $30,which means the wholesaler cost is $15,so he is selling at $22 and still make money.
He is a wholesaler .or someone who has access to wholesaler ,could be an employee or a kid in the family.
When ecommerce was in its early stage,Rupert Murdoch said internet is bad for the retailers,he is an astute businessman who spotted early.

Re: Selling for half price and below???

All the items he sells are ⊗⊗⊗⊗. He is selling at a large loss. That 1 particular item he is losing minimum of $10. And has 3 more just like that. Big losses since he is selling 50-70 items a day. There are a bunch of things you can sell and not lose money and get some quick feedback. I still think he is laundering money or something. I don't worry about it, my sales are great but it does make me curious.

That could be an explanation. Unless it's stolen he cant be making money.

He is making money, you just pay too much for the item.

You're knowledge of the cost/profit of phakes is impressive. :)

Re: Selling for half price and below???

So i have an update on this guy and it's the simplest explanation. Guy isn't shipping anything out. Has like 40 negative feedbacks now and his store is now closed. Moved on to another store. So he builds up his store for a month or two selling at NORMAL prices. Once ebay/paypal takes off the 30 day money hold he just starts selling at a ridiculous and impossible price, collects the money and once his store gets suspended leaves. F*&@ing it up for everyone. I would have rather it was stolen merch or some other explanation. But customers not receiving there stuff is bad for business and why ebay is clamping down on stealth accounts. This affects all of us that sell on ebay.

Ugh... hate those type of people.

Well, best we can do at the end of the day is still focusing on what we do and how we can do it best.
We can do this, we'll always prevail and those type of people will not last too long.

Sadly, there is quite a few of these around messing up the platform for years :(

This is part of the reason for MP now and why we have to provide our SS #'s and not even LLC's are sufficient for identification now on ebay. If they were getting rich doing this stuff i'd understand it. But they are making a couple thousand bucks at a time and then losing a store, and having to start all over again. I don't get it.
