"All documents submitted will be destroyed after we review them"

Regarding photo ID. Passport/Driver's licence etc

Ive ordered a new passport as my old one was expired anyway. So the issue number will be different.

So its down to name, DOB & photo.

I'm sure they will be destroyed after they have been reviewed as they say but do you think they take a note of my name and date of birth and keep it on file?

I dont understand. Im not sure if they keep this data on file. I've looked everywhere and not been able to find a definitive answer.

Going creative is 50/50 so i think its worth a shot to upload my ID if and whenever i'm asked.

If i get banned then i will go stealth.

I just asked if anybody has been successful after uploading photo proof ID.

I'm monitoring this.
I want to know if ebay do actually destroy your ID that you upload for managed payments after a while...
Or if they keep them on record.

I remember seeing a post a few months ago, a guy asked an Irish rep on the phone this exact question. I'm sure that they said they "destroy them after a few months". But I can't be certain.

My wonder is, say if you get a vero takedown from selling f@ke goods, do ebay give the rights owner your ID so they can chase you?

(Yes I know F@ke are bad)

I am not sure, but I think Adyen will keep your submitted Photo ID for up to 6 years depending on the country where it was collected.

False, they do not destroy them. Trust & Safety keeps them on record.

In the UK and EU the laws are roughly the same which demands that ebay, adyen, Amazon etc keep your records for a number of years.

Although it is generally believed that records are erased after, say, 6 years there is no specific timescale as they are entitled to keep them for 'however long is deemed necessary'. If they were legally challenged they could make a very good argument for keeping them for a decade and beyond. ( I believe Barclays have already argued this point after it was revealed they have never deleted customer details)

In reality, someone banned isn't going to be sitting there twiddling their fingers for 6+ years waiting to try their luck again. They'll go stealth or have moved on in life to something else.

I just chatted with Ebay on the same question. I questioned if my documents submitted had been destroyed as per the email they sent. The Ebay rep replied 'Please be assured that all information on suspended accounts are kept permanently'.

Ebay is openly lying in order to get people to submit information to them. And the Ebay rep was cheeky enough to ask me to be assured that the information was kept on record.

Makes sense that any company, for security/risk management reasons, to keep “suspended” or “bad” accounts on file to blacklist that info from ever opening an account again.

They'll ALWAYS keep your info.

Something just occurred to me today. As my OP states, i'm worried when the time comes that i will be asked for my ID and eBay has my banned account ID on record and thats me banned again.

My dad actually has the exact same first name as me. He is in his 80s but i'm going to get him a passport sorted. I think that should solve my ID worries.

I converted few accounts recently and I would say its dead easy to pass ID and bank statement requests
Even on one account previously bank statement given on different name to match the eBay account name and then had to change the eBay name and they asked for bank statement again same account different name they even passed it

I would say its very very easy with MP unless they follow Amazon in future

Yes, for UK.

It worked. I uploaded passport photo last night and restriction was removed an hour or so later.

Finally i can run the business in "my own name" again.

Years ago maybe 5 or 6 years ago I uploaded my provisional license with picture documents from AliExpress my account got suspended.

This time around I uploaded my drivers license different address a legit invoice and my account passed MC011 so maybe after so many years they do destroy your documents otherwise my drivers license same picture date of birth wouldn’t of been accepted which it was.

I don't know about eBay but Paypal (if they don't save the license) they save the information on it (dob, license number, etc).

with VERO ebay sends your info to the rights owner, from my understanding this is your ebay registered info (name, email, address, etc.), I don't think they will send your license

I don't trust anything they say, so since there's no confirmation whatsoever always assume they have your info in some form or another
