How easy is it to phone ebay and ask to change dob
 

hi....all my details and bank accounts are correct and genuine but my date of birth is wrong....ive had account for many years and do not remember giving date of birth and i probably just put my son or daughters dob because i didn't want show my old age.....never was important ....until now i have to sign up for MP.......can i just phone them up and ask them to change it to the genuine one..will this cause any red flags..thanks..

not sure if Ebay or MP needs your DOB?

I dont believe a DOB is entered when opening an ebay acct. At least not in the US. Dont know if its different for UK accts.

when i go to sign up for MP....there is a pre filled page with my details and dob.......i can delete it and change it but ebay are so strict now i scared to touch anything.......here is small print at bottom of page,,,,,so looks like its ok to but who knows.....its states when i update the info it will also update the ebay account details....

You may change your information up until the time you complete registration, after which you agree that we will store your data until we are ready to activate your account for managed payments. After you have been activated for managed payments, you can always view and edit your information in the Account tab of My eBay. We will use and share the information you submit as described in the Payments Terms of Use.

This info is necessary to get you properly set up and to comply with applicable laws. We will update your eBay account with your new info

I’d feel safer entering my real DoB into the system and hoping for the best. You may not need to call ebay at all

If you call them, it may prove unnecessary at best or cause an ill-tempered rep to suspend you at worst

we do not write DOB when we create ebay, we enter it to paypal. On paypal you can find it: Account settings->Business information (press update) -> Primary contact details->Date of birth

when i go to register for MP on ebay the registration page shows all my info + DOB....so where did ebay get it from...???,,,,i see date of birth in payal but that is my sons account under his name...i use my sons account for receiving payments.....why would they take his date of birth and add it to my ebay details..????.......i dont have a paypal account under my name.....thanks

ok..the paypal account is in my sons name not mine.....why would they take dob from there

Just know changing this info could easily lead to a MC011 asking for ID. Make sure it is the only thing you change within the next month if you do.

Well...you were using that pp account on your eb listings before, right?

yes but paypal is my sons name and details......why would they add to ebay account with my name...???....surly that would have caused a problem

yes thats what i worried about.....but i can supply an id with all my correct details....this is not a stealth account....its all genuine....i just noticed the different date of birth and know how strick ebay is now....i had account for years selling items value £200 ....

You can change date of birth or change anything else in MP, makes no difference as long as its verifies you will pass your MP, if they can't find you on soft search you will be asked to upload ID even on that you also allow to update detail

It's dead easy to pass MP

I have a personal account on Paypal. I cant see the DOB. Is this only for business users?
