Default Can ebay or paypal jail my friend?

My friend sold over 600 dvd items and didn't send the customers nothing because he is very sick in the hospital. The amount is $18,000 in sales, $27.99 for each dvd to his paypal account. He cannot move or hardly talk. He cannot access his laptop in there either. If the customers paid with paypal, then shouldn't paypal take care of all the disputes. Could he be jailed for this?

jailed? v. unlikely, put your flag up for proper advice. Money will be held and refunded if still in account, if the money is withdrawn and pp has access to it eg a bank mandate, have heard of instances when they take it straight out, although not technically supposed to. Depends also if correct address given, a neg balance like that will be pursued by paypal thats for sure, if address is real. If that is the case he needs to give his password to a trusted family member to sort out and ship items or refund customers.

Stop these stories. The forum is NOT going to tell your friend what will happen. This is not how it works. You tried in another thread about this topic though strangely no friend got mentioned. (wonders to self why? maybe because the replies were not liked ).

ffs,This is another post where you are stretching the truth. If sales have been made, if money have been paid to a paypal account BUT no goods sent back, then there is trouble. paypal will take steps to recover the money. annoyed customers will take steps as well. Don't give me the 'it's stealth' story. Someone WILL find out who has done this.

read this and think VERY carefully: IF THERE HAS BEEN A BIG ENOUGH SCAM DONE PAYPAL WILL TAKE ACTION The resulting action may involve police. Go look up internet fraud.

as i was told by someone who had a little experiance with this, is that if it is pass 5000, they will most probably try to get there losses back, it doesent matter if it is a stealth account...they will find out that the info you gave them is f@ke and will try to get your real info by your bank account through a court order...which is i believe unlikely, but for 18000...they will defiantly go after you...

i could be wrong...

My 2¢...

When I read stories like this regarding defrauding customers or even eBay or PayPal it makes me MAD and Sickened.

Apart from the morality of it, it makes our jobs twice as hard for Stealth Accounts. The more eBay and PayPal get defrauded the more safeguards they put in place to keep it from happening again. Let not forget possible reasons why eBay fee's keep getting higher and higher.

People that get scammed on eBay will probably quit buying stuff on eBay and will tell their friends and family members about their BAD experience, thus making a smaller customer base for sellers.

I am almost sure the OP is the one trying to keep the said $18,000 and the merchandise he sold and he his looking for our help and assurance he will be OK.

Whether it be the OP or the friend, I hope someone goes to jail over this!
