Shipping with a different shipping company ruin metrics?

Hi all,

If you send out an item using a different shipping method than the one that you stated that you would use on your listing, does ebay punish/lower your search ranking for this?

For example,in order to get the top rated plus seller badge on my listings, I list items with 1 day dispatch and free shipping with " other 48H courier ". But I just send the items out with royal mail 2nd class small parcel, which with my royal mail business account it usually arrives in 48 hours. But I think the " other 48H courier " option is meant to be for a full tracked service, not just delivery confirmation like the 2nd class gives.

So does ebay punish for sending out with a different shipping service/option?

Thanks

It’s best to send the item out with the shipping method you selected for your listings. I do understand why as you want the top rated seller badge next to your listing which does boost sales.

Is the 48hr delivery option you selected with a tracking number? If your sending 2nd class then you won’t get a tracking number unless you print labels off directly through eBay a 2nd class parcel will then be confirmed for delivery on eBay but sometimes it doesn’t get confirmed for some reason. Their can be some complications doing it this way.

The issue is 2nd class doesn’t always take 48hrs sometimes it can be longer which could effect your late delivery rate as 48hr delivery selected will guarantee to be delivered within the timeframe.

I just selected the " other courier 48 Hours " option. So I'm not this title that I have selected does not include the word tracked in it, but I think it is meant to be/EBay are expecting it to be a tracked service.

Thanks your your answer

Hopefully goes well - report back with results (if anything wrong noted)

UPDATE:
I don't think it matters to much.
Especially as long as items are getting delivered on time, it doesn't really matter if you send an item out using a different shipping method to the 1 that you stated.
As mentioned I just have all mine set to "other courier 48 Hours" so technically I can use anything as long as it arrives in that 48H/within expected delivery date to customer

I have had a few that arrive after expected date, generally, most of the time defect will record as a late delivery for a few days then get automatically removed by ebay. But this doesn't always happen.

If a customer leaves feedback but says it arrived late they won't remove it.

It's also worth noting in the UK we've had huge postal strikes which have dessimated delivery times, also Christmas. So theyve been a bit more liemient recently, but they will probably get more strict from now on
