Received Automated Christmas message from eBay - be sure your reg. phone # is VALID

I just wanted to pass this information along to all the members of this forum. A friend of mine just received an automated message, on her cell phone, from eBay mentioning about the up and coming Christmas season. The message stated to write as much detail as possible when selling items. I think it is time for us to double check out phone numbers to verify that they are still active. I would hate to see some of our accounts get suspended for something as dumb as this..

uhhp. theres going to be alot of people coming here crying about how Ebay locked their account because their phone number was no good.

I don't see this as a tactic to suspend accounts.

ebay will never call for marketing purposes unless this option is set to active in my preferences..

Modee, I did ask my friend and the option is not checked off. Good catch and thanks for the tip. I personally have not received the message yet with my 5 V-phone numbers. Oh yea I have not checked off that option. I just want to see how long it take to call everyone lol.

They won't suspend the account, what happened to me was they made me enter a valid number. Then they call the number and have you enter a pin number on EBay, just like paypal.

It was more like for the seller to remember to give as much detail with your auctions as you can. Its a marketing thing so people will bid higher and they make more on the Final Value & PayPal fees. That is the way I see it.

For the people who have not unchecked the marketing option, have you been receiving eBay flyer's in the Mail. I did receive 2 in 2 weeks and that account has been suspended for life. I can see the eBay's departments do not communicate with each other.
