Question about eBay holds
 

I recently made a sale on a new account and it says funds will
Be released on November 5th . I’m just wondering if I upload the tracking information which shows the item has been delivered will I be able to get the funds released earlier ?
I was always able to do this from live chat in the past but have not tried recently.

Yes this is correct if you upload tracking the hold release date will remove to an earlier date depending on what delivery you use will depend on the date of tracking. Also if customer receives item before estimated date then the next day funds will be in your bank.

I would advise to print labels through eBay and not manually enter a tracking number.

No, even you uploaded tracking number you’ll get your funds on Nov 5 until you build a good selling history with ebay

If customer receives item before November 5th they will receive their funds the next day.

I use Royal Mail special next day delivery and most of the time I get my funds within 3 days.

Yes it does if item is delivered 11am example money is available for payout the next day. The message normally pops up under your listing in the evening to let you know funds are now available which will be in your bank next day.

I have been using a smaller private delivery service for a while now , but you can still track items and so on .
I will wait for the items to be delivered and then see if eBay releases funds .
Hopefully they do as they did in the past

If you print label directly from eBay then funds will be available as soon as it shows delivered. Manually inputting tracking take much longer

Item delivered , I asked 2 eBay reps on live chat to release funds and I had proof of delivery ie tracking details .
They said they can’t as it’s a new account and they can’t override the eBay system so funds will be held until November .
Only way forward for me is to buy an account that doesn’t have this 2 week hold

Did you manually enter tracking number in or print label off via eBay? If you manually enter tracking in you will have to wait for positive feedback or the scheduled payout time.

Always always print labels off through eBay works perfectly on new accounts as soon as tracking says delivered funds are released.

I see that and was told the same by eBay reps . However I have a good deal with a courier service and have been using them for a while now , so I entered tracking manually .
I wonder if there’s a way around using labels for example just sending something else with the label to the address ?

I think I will try to send the customer a small item such as a card using the eBay postage labels to get my funds released and send the real item with my own shipping .
You think this would work ?

You can try by all means but customer might message you asking why you have sent them a cheap card.

Customer could also open a no item received case as well and show label and card as evidence.

Depending on what you sold will depend on if the shipping adds up example would be sold a drill for £100 postage selected Royal Mail special delivery £14.45 item weight 1kg.

Send card 100g Royal Mail second class a couple of pound never know with eBay they might get suspicious but you can try it see if it works.

Yes that is a valid concern . I will try this on one order and update . I will tell customer I have sent wrong order and their real order will be with them Shortly. They should ideally receive their item a day after getting the eBay label .
I’ll try with one order and see how that goes .

You can get it released quicker if tracking shows delivered and the buyer leaves positive feedback and if thats the case just call ebay and advise tracking shows delivered and the buyer has left feedback so can release funds and they can manually overide this via there supervisor ive done this many times on high value sales and they always release funds once they can see this.

Hey mate quick question, for the eBay labels and getting the fund’s released is it Better to use Royal Mail or the other shipping eBay uses for example DPD?
I will try this tomorrow and send something off and want it to work as best as possible.

I always use Royal Mail I pay through check out as guest through PayPal using a revolut disposable card.

Update , my orders have been delivered via eBay delivery and are showing as delivered . When will eBay release the funds from hold ? 24 hours from delivery or do I need to contact them ?

If the items have been delivered and tracking showing as delivered the funds will be released in the evening normally 8-10pm and funds in bank next day.

Item was delivered at 3pm and showing as delivered on the system but the funds are still on hold . You think they will release them tomorrow?
Baring in mind this is the first sale on this account.

After my first sale I remember messaging eBay through live chat and they said the system will update once the item has shown as delivered. On all my other accounts I never messaged eBay and they were available for payout.

Did you print the labels through eBay and pay through PayPal check out as a guest?

You can wait until tomorrow to see what happens but you should be paid tomorrow between 10/11am

Labels were printed through eBay , I payed by card and delivery was with the evri service they offer .
I will wait till 11am tomorrow , if funds are not released I’ll ask on live chat.
Hopefully they are released tomorrow.

Sounds like you did everything right the only thing might go against you is you sending a card instead of the item due to the courier you use that might go against you.

In payments section does it say next payout thurs if it does you will be paid tomorrow if not then you won’t be paid tomorrow.

On payout section it said nothing about next payout .
Well I waited till 11 but the funds were still on hold . I called eBay and the rep said she can’t release the funds as it’s a new account and after 10 sales then orders will be released right after delivery.
Did you have to wait till 10 orders for this or you got it straight away ?

If you don’t have a next payout schedule under your payment section then the funds have not been released.

I think the reason why you have to wait is not because the account is new is because the delivery option you may of used.

I use Royal Mail special delivery and always get funds next day as soon as customer receives parcel even on new account.

I used the eBay evri delivery option .
Well I’m going to try 2 things now
I’ll try using the Royal Mail special delivery and see how that works
And I will try making 10 sales on an account then see how quickly they release my funds

But it doesn’t make sense to me how they keep saying it’s on hold because I’m a new seller yet you say yours gets released in a day .
Would be interesting to see what we are doing differently

This is what I do on a new account. I create a listing day 1 account created list it for £30-£35 7 day auction. When it sells I cancel order and confirm deposits eBay sent to my bank.

I list risky item up buy it now once deposits confirmed. When item sells I print Royal Mail special delivery label using PayPal check out as a guest using a revolut VCC. Label comes out with eBay on customer address and return address. I smudge the return address out and write “if not in please deliver to neighbour” I do this because all my accounts have different addresses and I use same Royal Mail facility.

Customer receives item before 1pm and around 8/10pm funds are released and in my bank before 11am. This has always worked for me.

So a quick update I called eBay yesterday asking for them to release the funds and the rep said she will put in a manual release and they should be released in 24 hours .
It has been 24 hours as I talked to her at 1:30 and the funds are still on hold .
Is this normal ? Shouldn’t the funds be released by now ?

Hey man... this is a new sale right?

You really don't wanna draw this much attention to your account.

Organically letting holds drop on their own after you make some good history is always best.

Yes I agree you are right . However I was testing something with my deliveries and wanted to make sure .
I’m still not sure why they are not releasing the funds and I called again to another rep and he said eBay delivery release is only for the USA ??
2 reps have told me they will release

I will try again in a couple hours

I don’t mind if I loose the account I just want to see if my theory works

That’s what it’s all about testing accounts and finding a winning method which works for you.

Let us know if they release the holds they should do if customer has received it shouldn't see why not.

Well I think I’ve figured it out. You were right about the difference the shipping makes even if it’s labels by eBay .
So an item of mine was delivered yesterday through EVRI delivery and the previous items were delivered by DPD.
I called eBay and the rep released my EVRI delivery item funds in 15 mins - this is as 24 hours had passed since the delivery
However the DPD items are still on hold even though they have been delivered many days ago

I guess they prefer shipping by EVRI and Royal Mail ?

I will further confirm this tomorrow and on Monday and come back with my results

In my experience, after 10 good rates the holds start to sort of fall off. I actually just hit 10 today and 3-5 holds dropped. First sale Oct 30th

Soon the "hold til [date]" will turn into "hold til delivery"
