Hit with two Counterfeit removal. Now what to do?
 

Got first ever Counterfeit removal notice last Friday.

As I was chatting with an agent just now, got another ebay message with second Counterfeit removal notice.

Same brand same item just different size.

Shall I end all other sizes for that item? Or rather first modify/edit listing to remove the part of the name of the item and then end?

What is the brand you are selling? How long have you been selling these before being hit with the counterfeit removal?

Once hit with a removal let the account cool off for 6 months atleast and switch to a different account. Dont lay all your eggs in one basket!

bots have to roam thru zillions of listings,they willl probably be removed as well.
I would end all these listings to save your XXX

You have to be careful. It’s not what happens now, it’s these things that trigger periodic reviews, which lead to MC011. I would take down that brand until you can figure out how to ensure these removals stop.

it is better to remove all items which cause these problems , even better to remove all items from the category otherwise there is a risk of continuation with a 3day and 7day suspension. after 7day suspension may come anytime

A counterfeit item removal isn't as big of a deal as VeRO IMO but I could be wrong

Tiffany took Ebay to court for allowing counterfeit and knockoffs on Ebay as false advertising and lost the case,court said it is the duty of the name brand to take action.
So now plenty of name brand manufacturers are active on Ebay,Addidas.Apple,Msft,Tiffany,Prada,Coach ,Rolex and more,
They can take down your listings or ask Ebay to take them down

A counterfeit take down is a big deal.

That is eBay themselves directly taking down an item. Its really really bad for the account

The brand company could buy your item and study it,they want to know who is making these counterfeits and go after them

most of the time they do not buy or examine anything , they see a low price and remove items

removal with both VERO and non VERO are dangerous because they start a restriction cycle , once the first 3 day restriction has kicked in the account can be considered to have entered the death row

I've had one of these before and the item wasn't even counterfeit. I think it said in the email that the community reported it- which I took to be a competitor. I didn't relist the item but there was no mention of a 3 day restriction or any restrictions.

If anyone can report an item enough and get eBay to take it down it does seem unfair considering there is no way to counter or fight it.

What if they account had a 3 day restriction but then you left the account alone for 6 months to a year. Is the account forever doomed still?

it is not doomed but the record will remain so next time it would be 7 days , after that 10 and after that a permanent suspension would become possible

Strikes don't drop off after 3 months anymore like they used to

Usually it goes warning, 3 days limitation, 7 day limitation, 10 day limitation perm ban. But it can also go straight to a perm ban.

established sellers may get some slack so that restrictions may start after multiple warnings and there may be multiple 3 day and 7 day restrictions but in general once it starts it is a problem

What is the timeframe now?

The last I knew of it was a year but then after the counter strike I noticed the message disappeared after 90 days.

you will find out the next time an item gets removed , if previous strike is gone their message will be stating that you might not have been aware of the issue but if it is not their message will be stating that you were already warned in the past

I've had my account vero'ed a few times. It seems after a few months the next vero will go back to 3 day. I've only ever had one 7 day and that was 2 veros in less than 2 months. From my experience veros don't matter at all if spaced out far enough. So yes there is a cool off period for veros at least.

Extremely dangerous.

I think you get a 3 day and then a 7 day. If you get a 7 day there has not been a "cool off" since the 3 day.

It is interesting that these Vero/counterfeit messages disappear from your inbox after 90 days. I do wonder what the significance of this is, if any. Rationally, you would think that the violation has "cooled off" by the time the message disappears...but maybe not.

The difference between Vero and counterfeit is the rights owner has submitted a Vero notice on your item if it's vero. Counterfeit can be user reported.

I'm sorry I made it seem like it was a sure thing. Just wanted to chime in on my experience with veros. Over the 4 years of selling I had maybe 8-10 veros and only 2 were over 7 day. I had a really strange vero where the company listed a bunch of items some being similar but there were a bunch that were very random. It feels like eBay doesn't check anything.

If the vero is generated by a buyer complaining (competition) you must wait over a month for the complainer to ask for a return. Then you can start listing. Most veros are from the competition buying from you, then ratting you out.

I beg to differ some are from the manufacturer,or VERO members,volunteer or paid EBAY staff.
They would not complain and they do not return the item

You really don't wanna play the game with them.

Vero is rather serious and you are lucky you even had 8-10 veroes and not get your account nuked. 8-10 is a LOT

yeah it sure is a lot which is why I was surprised at the suspension days getting reset to 3 as many times as it did. Maybe because my account was 20 years old?
