Default Ebay duplicate item policy rules

Hi all

I did ask ebay CS this question but honestly I think you guys are far more accurate then ebay themselves at lot of the item

If I list an item on ebay UK and located in the UK is it classed as a duplicate item if the list the same thing on Ebay USA and located in the USA? (The same item is located in and listed on Ebay UK and Ebay USA)

I have done this without any issue but I'm not sure if it's technically breaking the duplicated item listing policy or not.

Thanks

If you take ebays policy to the letter then it's still a duplicate listing.

That said, like you I do it quite extensively without issue.

The only way to legitimately do it is to use auctions, it only applies to Fixed Price listing.

Thanks for your reply. I wasn't sure if for example ebay UK and ebay USA are classed as seperate and therefore it technically wasn't a duplicate listing.

Like you I have done this for years without issue.

I asked ebay if it was within the rules and they said yes but we all know how accurate ebay CS is!

If the UK listing only ships to UK and the USA listing only ships to USA, then it's not considered a duplicate, if both ship to both countries then it is a duplicate.

Thanks for this. Even if the item is physically located in USA in one listing and UK on the other?

So you are saying that you have 2 accounts, one in the USA and the other in the UK, if that’s the case you would not be breaking the rules. However if you are using the same image taking it from your PC the meta data on it could link the 2 accounts.

duplicates are an issue only if you list the same item in the same condition as fixed price on the same ebay site

otherwise you can do different conditions and different ebay sites , the only limitation I would do here would be deactivating despatch to the UK on the USA listed items so that it does not appear on the uk site along with the UK listed item

I actually do it all the time , even on 4 ebay sites at the same time and it is all not an issue , ebay do not remove them because of duplicates because they can not be duplicates by definition since they are on different ebay sites , with different currencies , postage methods , languages etc. , the duplicate policy exists because it is supposed to prevent sellers from flooding the search with identical items cutting off the competition and frustrating potential buyers

You need exclude markets in shipping policies. Example:

Item listed on USA ( shipping worldwide exlc. AU and UK )
Item listed on AU ( shipping worldwide exlc. USA and UK )
Item listes on UK ( shipping worldwide exlc. USA and AU )

I think the actual policy explains it well enough, it says "Separate listings may be created for the same item on different eBay sites, as long as the international shipping options don't result in the listings cluttering the search results of any individual site."
