IP Changed, now requesting TEXT validation, lost TN
 

My IP provider closed my IP due to some sort of IP refresh. Got a new IP in the same area but EB flagged it as a new device.

Now when I try to log in, I get the message to text verify account. Unfortunately that number is no longer valid and I cannot modify it to text a different number. Understandable.

I tried calling in EB, and got 2 out of 3 security checks correct. That still was not good enough to pass. So I dropped the line.

Should I try to pass the manual sec checks or just move on with a new account. I have no way to recover the original phone number. It is a bummer because that account was 6-7 years old.

Any thoughts or suggestions are appreciated.

Call ebay. It's the only way.

This happen to me a while back and they wouldn’t budge. Had to get old number back

OP, do you have any old device that has accessed the account with cookies in place?

No, don't just move on.... call them up and see if they can help.

Explain you forgot to update the phone number.

Next time keep everything current and stick to a stable IP provider like ipburger
