| | | gerald | 10-23-2024 03:51 PM | Reason for return concern Hello all,
I've had a buyer start a return for "not as described" stating it was counterfeit.
Do ebay monitor a buyers reason for return and if so, are they likely to act?
TIA |

Since Ebay has not seen the item,it becomes a he said she said case,so it would make you accept return,if it is authentic, you can always relist |

TIA | Welcome to the forum OP - all the best as you master stealth :thumb:
You can bet that eBay monitors issues like that looking for counterfeit issues or security issues - are you selling some kind of knockoff? |
| OldTom | 10-24-2024 03:59 PM | Re: Reason for return concern My guess is they do monitor returns for keywords. Whether they would act or not I cannot say. I know from experience Amazon do. |

But this guy does not know how to tell plastic from ivory |

TIA | One off is usually fine
If you start to get a lot then you may start to get issues
It also depends on the item itself and the price |

| agent006140 | 10-25-2024 12:32 PM | Re: Reason for return concern No,I did not,but it looks like ivory,it is actually ground alabaster stone with plastic
Ebay will allow words like Bovine bone, |

It's a one-off, saw what I thought was an opportunity to expand my product range and gave it a try. Such a weird sector I never even considered it was on the counterfeiter radar but maybe it is. Buyer thought so anyway so won't be gambling on a second.
Cool forum when you don't want to ask on the main ebay forums, we all know how that can play out. :) |

| Automasters | 10-26-2024 02:14 PM | Re: Reason for return concern I think ebay scans all messages with their algorithm. I have seen a drastic increase in returns for all reasons, I assume it is because of this wonderful economy... |

| Delta1 | 10-29-2024 10:43 PM | Re: Reason for return concern Ebay do monitor the number of returns as some count as defects on your account if it’s SNAD or faulty. As mentioned, one off, no biggie. If repeatedly, then you can get your account restricted. If you described the item accurately, then you can report the buyer for misusing the returns. This may remove the defect and also get your return postage refunded.
I got fed up of buyers using the wrong reason in order to not pay for return postage and so reported one recently. I had ammo as the buyer returned the item stating not working and then provided a picture if a scratch on their car. I got my return postage refunded after a few week.
I resold the item and the 2nd buyer is pleased with it. |

| Delta1 | 11-02-2024 06:37 AM | Re: Reason for return concern It’s good for the buyer.
As a seller, you get a return, if it’s your fault or item’s fault, you pay to pay it AND pay the return postage (if it needs returning).
As a buyer, you don’t lose anything if its a failty (or not as described item) as they get refunded in full. Only pay return postage due to buyer remorse reasons but seller loses out on original postage and packaging costs.
I asked eBay, they said its UK law that makes it so the full amount needs refunding… |
