Likely due to the paperwork involved? As in...if you do full declaration etc, you'd be hit with hard tax/tarriff stuff so have to go under the radar, right?

Basically I have a strategy when importing high valued goods from Asia.

Declaration of course filled in English, but that's not the issue.

I've been shipping this way since early 2010s. But what I'm saying is, from my personal experience, shipping into USA directly from Asia (mainly CN/HK), since Trump's tarrifs/import policy changes (as we know he's anti China and pro domestic prosperity bla bla), since this change, I've noticed pretty much most of my shipments are either delayed at the customs office, and there has been a surge in seizures reported to me, luckily I haven't experienced it (yet) but a few of my partners have. Most of the people I know have resulted in triangle shipping, costs more but less likely to have these complications.

Now when the customs office see an inbound shipment from China it's under more scrutiny.

I have to fill in more paperwork upon customs office arrival, asking stupid additional questions (e.g. detail every single material used in this item, where each material originated bla bla), never had to do this before 2026. If it's not filled in on time higher chance the shipment is inspected / seized is also what I've been told.

I do think it's dependent on the good your selling (watches/jewellery etc., under highest scrutiny / cheap iphone accessories and resellables probably less so), again this is just my speculation & my opinion, don't take it as gospal :s

I used to like Trump in someways, but this has really sh*t the bed for me, has made my life much harder..

You must be on watch list or something. None of what you said tracks for me and I've also been doing this since the early 2010's. Maybe it's because you're in the UK trying to import stuff into the US? The political bias stuff doesn't really translate to reality.

UK & most of EU is fine to US.

It's mainly China to US. Potentially they are starting to x-ray and take jewellery/watches into greater consideration I really don't know

None of my UK-US shipments experience this, just CN-US..
