Promoted Listings - how are you handling it?

Wells Fargo has a $10k minimum balance as one of the ways to avoid account fees. Hardly scalable though.

Personally though, I don't trust any banks in the west/europe any longer. A recent law passed to do with AML regulations whereby banks are able to freeze your account(s) and hold your funds against your will for an undisclosed amount of time.

It happened to a friend of mine, he has been waiting for weeks now, seen similiar cases on reddit and online of 50 year old women complaining they've had their money locked for 2+ months, it's insanity.

If they decide to, they can and will do so and you have no say in the matter, you are left helpless at the mercy of their underpaid/miserable customer service teams that couldn't care less.

I personally keep most of my money offshore as these western regulations are beyond ridiculous, as soon as something like this can happen, it's game over.

HSBC bank is known for demanding high amounts to be kept in foreign currency accounts in order to keep them active...it's rough as a side note

9-10 currently. Sales are down slightly, but that's expected for July.

Haha, that would be awesome! I was pushing 9 a few weeks ago on one account but in the last few weeks it's dropped under 6.


Traffic is good though. I'm getting several hundred listings views per day on 2 fronts but the bar chart looks so sketchy in my traffic tab. For "impressions" and "listing views" it always shows an almost even split between organic and promoted. But when I click on the "quantity sold" tab, 95% of all sales are attributed to promoted listings. I don't understand how both my impressions and listing views stats can show a large % of organic traffic.. but then none of it translates to sales..?

It means there is some bull**** in there. I usually only see organic sales from auctions. If it is from buy-it-now, it is so rare that I'd be better off gambling at a casino.

Mind you, my ratio of 9 is on VERY hot items. I have a system I use to keep pumping them out.

There isn't one yet but this is some seriously shady behavior I've been seeing with promoted listings. I wouldn't be surprised if there is one at some point. They are milking hot selling categories for more and more with each new policy update.

I'd be EXTREMELY curious to know how their "suggested ad rate" is calculated. I've noticed 9% on all auctions at least, 10-12% on the majority of categories, and some items have insane 18%+. That is damn near creeping up on 40% of the total sale.

Also, I think it is unfair to charge their fee on the total sale. It should be just the item price, not the taxes or shipping costs. Why? Because the customer pays the taxes, and we pay the shipping.

Don't get me started on the above-average return metric where they tack on another 5% to the selling fee. That number is always insane. All of my accounts have returns of less than 5%, and I'm still charged the extra fee.

The reason Ebay charges fee on shipping costs is that sellers will list an item for $1 and charge 65 for shipping.

The last time I visited a HSBC bank in SE Asia,thats not the case,I have a choice of Yen,local currency,or US $

offers free shipping then,thats why power sellers do,as they get a discount on FVF on the item only.(not shipping).
question-I saw some Ebay sellers selling bubblewrap ,the listing said it will be shipped media mail?

Smart sellers need to track ROI closely instead of blindly increasing ad rates.Try to increase the average order value (through bundled or combo sales) and reduce the proportion of advertising costs.

My specific use of HSBC is based in the UK.

HSBC in Canada folded into RBC...sadly
