Verify your location by phone ....

Hello everyone !

This phone verification has been no problem for a while now.

Yesterday I tried it and ran into a problem.

I use a virtual online number and have the service forward to my cell phone.

This has been sucessful for quite a while , and yesterday I did get the call .

But when asked to press the correct button if you were expecting the call..

It seemed not to recognize when I pressed the button.

Not sure if ebay has wised up ? Or maybe its the model phone I am using ?

Maybe it would work if I forwarded it to a landline ?

Anyone else out there experiencing this issue ?

This is quite a common problem now.

It's actually a common error with phone forwarding. The tone doesn't always get recognized properly. Sometimes you need to call 2-3 times until it works. If you've used up all your tries, you need to try again in 24 hours (as eBay limits you to I believe 3 or 5 tries per day). It will eventually work, but it might take you more than 1 try. I've had one account where I had to do it 5 times, another account worked the first time.

The best advice I can give you on this is search the forums and look for the current most reliable phone forwarding or voip that currently works.

But if possible have the back up to receive a letter if possible.

My problem with this is always due to the fact I am at a disadvantage due to the fact that my location offers numbers that have a limited effectiveness when using to verify with Paypal.

So I always keep in mind that the liklehood of the phone verification failing is high so more often than not I want for the letter.

Now if you dont receive a letter you can ask PP customer support to send another. If this one fails I always shut the Paypal account as I dont use PP accounts unless I can get them fully verified.

Its like playing with dynamite without a protective suit.

I created a new account today, I then created a UK phone number through Skype, and accepted call on Skype. Worked a treat

In other words, don't use it for phone verification.

Too late for me now, what will happen?

I would update the primary number for a mobile phone number.

This should sort you out ok. Plus you will have the mobile number on file for main contact.

If a buyer tries to ring and doesnt get you, they report the number as "invalid" and in return ebay will scrutinise your account.

Now its verified lose the skype and add the mobile.

You will be ok.

Now a new error ,

I try to change the phone number , and it allows me to .
But the when I click " call me now " ..
It shows they have called the old number ? ?
