Default Anyone seen this before..

Currently have 4 accounts going on the same computer.

One account was hit with this tonight:

We took this action because it has come to our attention that you have attempted to bypass our seller review process by opening new accounts.

However, my other accounts are all fine, and none are in review. Any idea what would trigger this?

Heres what I have done

-New User Account
-New Debit Card
-New Phone Number
-New Name
-New Address
-Selling different items than my other accounts
-Dial up net, so new IP

I wasn't hit with a review, just a swift suspension after selling a few items

2 of the accounts have been up for a few days, they are fine.

The other 2 were created tonight, and one was hit with that. The other is still fine.

Account was up a few hours.

I make sure to disconnect from dial up everytime, and I logout not switch user, so no matter what new connection everytime.

Can they track mac address on a usb 56K modem?

Also, my other accounts on the same unit are still fine.

I don't know, it looks like you opened other accounts with the same info.

Come on now, once again not possible. I am not getting an account linked message. If I opened two accounts with any of the same info they would have closed both.

This is the only one affected.

Amazon can also check your Hardware IDs, Serial Number of your Windows System.

In my case, only a different User-ID on the same Windows System will not work!

Disconnecting from dial up each time does not guarantee a new ip. Are you using an ip log?

YES...
They do grab your MAC address.
EVERY dial-up modem has a MAC address
On my Laptop there are at least 3 MAC addresses that I can find with no problem.
There are another 2 MAC addresses that I have to dig to find.
So my laptop has a total of 5 MAC addresses.
Which ones are they looking at..... I am not sure yet.

Yes they can see the MAC address of your USB Modem.

Looks like I've got some work to do, all this time I haven't been hiding my mac address, that would probably make my accounts last alot longer.

I can say that I used dial up internet via NetZero. I kept a ip log for a month. Everytime I connect/disconnect I got new ip everytime. After the month I quit logging in because it was a Fresh IP everytime. I had to let it go because it was so damn slow. Dialing into another state will NOT necessarily give you an ip from that state.

The eBayStealth book says that they don't. Is the book just outdated then, or what?

They don't necesaraly check it with their bot system but they can easily check it manually like any other web site, the stealth guide is up to date but ebay can change at any time, it's just natural commen sense.

The OP is talking about AMazon not ebay. I think they do check your mac address. Not sure. Here's a few discussions about it and it seems that it's not true. I dunno not saying it's right or wrong just relaying some info.

How can this possibly be an issue of MAC? In my understanding, each computer has its own MAC. Therefore, if the reason that Unfortunate got nailed was Amazon detecting his MAC, all the accounts would be dunzo.

I have been nailed by MAC detecting software before, and it had nothing to do with the internet. It was all about the computer I was trying to log in from. Heres what happened. I had won a very large poker MTT on Full Tilt. A week later, Im playing with friends on a computer in the office. I get pissed and log out. I bring my friends laptop (who is suspended for life) upstairs and try to log back in. Im instantly shut down for trying to log in from the suspended users computer. The reason was Full Tilts automated system had my friends MAC address input into security as a banned MAC. Again, it had nothing to do with the MAC on the router or anything to do with the internet.
