| | | sycore | 11-27-2007 02:33 PM | How is ebay really tracking? I have changed ip address, deleted all cookies, stripped my pics of info, renamed and resized them. tried changing my description and main title info. Can sell on regular ebay, but always get booted on ebay motors. Any ideas how they really track. |
| ivegotinfo | 11-27-2007 02:43 PM | - did you log in to the email address from your old ip? (tracking pics)
- same name/email?
- did you clean all temp files also?
- your computer name in my computer? (read that in ebayreplay ebook, right click my computer go to properties, and computer name, change to like MSHOME, and also click the "change" button and there change the name too, to like MSWINDOWS, so its generic. and not like "johns-computer" |
| sycore | 11-27-2007 02:47 PM | Haven't tried deleting temp files or changing computer name.
Thanks will give those a try. |
| koalawash | 11-27-2007 04:50 PM | Does it say you were linked to a previous account? Sometimes they will boot you just for starting to sell too quickly. |
| ebayhateluv | 11-27-2007 08:51 PM | FYI- some recent suspensions- they do not even give you the name of the acct you were linked to (unless in my case, too many to list??)--
it just said linked to user <.........>. |
| sycore | 11-27-2007 09:20 PM | It used to be very easy for me to get back on, clear cookies change ip and I was good to go, but it seems ebay is tracking another way now. So i am trying to eliminate things one by one. I stripped out all the metatags in my pics, resized and renamed them so they are not tracking pictures. |
| ebayhateluv | 11-27-2007 11:07 PM | POssibly they set their Sniper like we do to snipe /search for auctions- i.e. they pick maybe 10 keywords from your auction- then when that comes up in a que (along with other similarities)-age of acct less than suspended acct, etc. -they target that acct? I am going for the less obvious things, as i know we have been racking our brains on this question...... |
| imjustme | 11-27-2007 11:48 PM | There's no way for them to track your computer's name. They'd need a java applet or something like that for it and there's nothing like that on the eBay website.
The funny thing is, I've used the same HTML and same pictures (on a different photobucket account, of course) across suspended and not suspended accounts and never got any problems. |
| sycore | 11-28-2007 09:36 AM | I think they are tracking me across my ip range, while it varies for all 4 values the first two place are usually only one of 4 or 5 combos. Example 67:140:xxx:xxx or 74:239:xxx:xxx
I know they must track words in the main listing title but doubt the track item description. As a test, I copied exactly an ad from another seller selling the same supposed "banned" item for a few months and his auctions don't get touched. So if they are tracking word, his should be pooping up also.
Does anyone want to trade seller accounts? I think it would help answer a few questions. Example, if I open a seller account for you and you put of an item that got you banned and it stays up, they must be blocking entire ip ranges for certain new accounts. |
| imjustme | 11-28-2007 09:40 AM | You realize you can disguise description in the auction listing?
Use HTML code something like, instead of:
"font code" Brand New Jaguar "font code"
use:
"font code" Brand New "font code" Ja "font code" gu "font code" ar "font code"
:D |
| imjustme | 11-28-2007 09:58 AM | By code, I mean this.
Instead of: Code:
<font face="verdana" size="2">Jaguar</font> use this: Code:
<font face="verdana" size="2">Ja</font><font face="verdana" size="2">gu</fon><font face="verdana" size="2">ar</font> |
| ivegotinfo | 11-28-2007 01:25 PM | whoa. and it works?
holy crap lol. |
| sycore | 11-28-2007 01:47 PM | Yes, i have used a variation of that in the past. Another tip, is if it is a new account list some common items, when the finally show up when you do a search for the item (usually 4-8 hours later) Just revise the ad to what you really want to sell. Another tip is to list a few items, then do a one time paypal payment for $1 to the seller fees.
I hate ebay and paypal with a passion, but they are only game in town. (Didn't that used to be consider an illegal monopoly?) Let's try to figure these *******s out. |
| imjustme | 11-28-2007 02:29 PM | They $1 payment really helps? |
| sycore | 11-28-2007 03:37 PM | Yes, the $1 paypal payment seemed to help on one on mine account in the past.
Just found some new cookies from ebay owner@e-2dXXXXXXdpmao.stats.esomnitur
stats.esomniture.com
and rtm |
| rond100 | 11-28-2007 03:56 PM | I spend as much of the 25 dollar gift card as I can. Let them bill it. Then overlist for 45 days |

| ivegotinfo | 11-29-2007 08:57 AM | ^ couldnt whoever the ebay spy on this forums be, just get ebay to implement something to prevent this?
and also. if we all start using this, wouldnt it be easy for ebay to figure out who we actually are on ebay? and link us to this forum, and easier suspensions? |
| imjustme | 11-29-2007 09:28 AM | They can't disable this, unless they disable HTML codes in general. And then that would ruin pretty much any advantage sellers have over their competitors, if not ruin the eBay platform completely. |
| sycore | 11-29-2007 07:55 PM | After numerous trail and error methods of opening new selling accounts, i think the only things they track are ip ranges, cookies and title descriptions of "banned" items of new accounts less then 3 months old or lower then 5 feedback. |
| ivegotinfo | 11-30-2007 02:12 AM | man u guys are smart lol.
im going to try this.
so basically if i want to sell a "BRAND NAME" shirt lets say,
i would list a ... "black shirt mens size XL"
then a few hours later, revise and add the brand name to the title, and to the description? |

It usually helps if you have at least one feedback. If you got suspended for selling a certain brand name like Nike, make sure you change the title description as much as you can. Or use the title description of someone else selling the same thing and change it around. | | All times are GMT -5. The time now is 07:48 AM. | |
