Default Should I be concerned.....

A buyer asked me to send an item without an invoice. It is a fairly expensive authentic media item. Is this cause for alarm?

Thanks

BIG cause for alarm.

Like, do you know the buyer? No.

What's the feedback and age of the account?

What is your gut feeling? If it's caused you to post to ask, I'm going with it makes you feel uneasy.

Look at the transaction. Why would the buyer not want an invoice? Where are they coming from to ask a stupid thing like that. Say you sell in that manner, where's your protection? I'd be looking out for the next email that they want it sent to Nigeria lol.

It seems strange to my way of thinking. I would be careful. OK, I've sold items in certain ways but I've sold them to repeat buyers. I've sold to buyers who have earned my trust. I am SO over having my money taken by buyers, ebay and paypal. I would suggest you approach this in a similar manner

It happens a lot. Some people who have customers paying good prices for items use Amazon and eBay (sometimes Half) to purchase their items as it is their cheapest and easiest method of fulfilling orders.

They don't want an invoice included because they don't want the buyer to know how much they paid for it.

Check their feedback. If they have some huge number of positives - all on the BUYING side, this is likely the case.

If there are few feedbacks, it could be some sort of a scam.

The feedbacks are all glowing and positive, over 490, and this seller is also a buyer with same like items. Seems like they are buying and selling items for resale. I'll send the item with tracking, or perhaps signiture confirmation.

It just seemed kind of unusual to not want an invoice. Many buyers insist on one. Maybe its a tax issue, or like you said above they dont want a third party knowing the purchase price.

Thanks for your quick replys....you guys and gals ROCK!

Is this to be shipped OUTSIDE of your country? If so, then be VERY worried.

The best protection is to accept only a PayPal confirmed address and ship witrh signature confirmation.

However, there could also be two other scenarios.

The item is a gift.

Or maybe this person sold something that was defective, are out of stock, and are using you to replace the item for thier buyer. It has happened to me. Only twice in 4 years, but it happens.

The best advice is to never enter into ANY transaction for more money than you can afford to lose.

Good points. The item is US address with verified/confirmed address, and paypal. Looks legit, but you never know.

I never go international anymore, even to Canada. I got burned by a couple of Canadian buyers who left negative feedbacks because the shipping took a little longer to get through customs, even though I explained the delay in the item description, and you can never get tracking to Canada unless u go Express, which is really expensive.

Less stress to just ship domestic.

Thanks again

Thinking of this: if they are doing a resale then they might ask you for a private listing so why worry about price?

I am not sure i understand... Big deal if they dont want an invoice, as long as you send it to a paypal address with tracking whats the difference? I have sold 10,000's of items and never send an invoice with the item unless the customer specifically asks for one.
Some people may ask not to have one as it might be a gift or are sending it to someone else
