Feedback score to play a huge role in the future
Multiple press releases today concerning changes in eBay effective February 20th. Besides changes in fee structures eBay will use your Feedback score to give preferential pricing and discounts to good sellers and require Paypal payment options for nonperforming sellers. Quoted below:
Among the most notable changes are lower fees that sellers pay to list items for sale on eBay's site. The company is cutting these listing, or insertion, fees by 25% to 50%, depending on the market.
To make up for the revenue shortfall, eBay plans to increase its cut from final sale prices, known as final value fees. The move is designed to lower the risk for sellers if their items do not sell.
The company also said it is eliminating fees for sellers who use its Gallery option in an effort to boost the number of sellers using photos of the items for sale.
In an effort to boost customer satisfaction, EBay also said it is raising the minimum standards for sellers using its site. Among other changes, the company said it will give less search exposure to sellers who carry high rates of customer dissatisfaction and will require a "safe-payment option" such as PayPal or a major credit card for those sellers.
"It is our intention to reward great sellers," Donahoe told the gathering. "Sellers that describe items accurately, ship on time, and ship at a fair price will enjoy preferential pricing and discounts on eBay. We think this will significantly improve the buyer experience overall."
