Default What do you think of Ebay? Scam or...

To start with i will say first that, how many of you say that Ebay is Scam and how many say it's not. Read my experience and let us know what do you think now.

Here is one my experience with Ebay, I was in one of the Asian countries and an once i started my new account i verify Paypal an Ebay with CC to start and than confirm my Bank account with Paypal later. After few listing i got a call from Ebay CS for verification my phone no. and other details. Ok that was good now, i was getting phone calls regularly from Ebay CS and from account manager, yes you heard it right account manager. He introduce me his name and provide me his personal cell no. and give me brief information about Ebay, at some point he ask me some questions that do you know this(for eg. like how to end listing early) i said no ( even though i knew it but just pretending ), and he said you can call me anytime until between 9:00 am to 11.30pm. if i have any issue with Ebay.

Ok so i was going good and within 3 months i made 140 positive feedback's and all above 4.7 DSR's ( its low but all high value). Now i was starting listing my best items as i was receiving good feedback's.

Now one day i receive call from account manager saying that you are really doing good, do you want any help from me how is your experience with all the buyers, i said no all is going well no problem. Now he starting discussion with me about some of my particular listing and he said how much you think that it will sell i said amount around XXXX, he said can i bid on the item say amount XXX, i said sure if you like it and want to buy you can bid, than he said no i just want to bid. I started thinking for a few seconds and than realized that he was talking about shill biding. I said ok. Now he said at the end that if you want me to increase bid i can call him.

So that's how it started and at that point i thought that this is the reason why prices go up in Ebay. I can't leave Ebay because its like addiction and i am doing this full time, so i don't have other scope.

Don't get me wrong but i will still not say Ebay a Scam even though they are violation there own policy, Ebay is my livelihood.

OK guys that was my experience any similar or other experience you have faced with Ebay or Paypal.

An ebay employee called you and while on the phone bid on your item to raise price? Then asked you to call him back if you wanted him to bid higher?

Seriously?

You say account manager. Are you a TRS?

This has to be a rogue account manager. It cannot be eBay policy. If it ever got out that eBay was colluding with sellers to artifically raise prices, that would be the END of eBay. Nobody would trust them any longer.

Maybe a new account manager trying to raise his stats or reach his quota by frauding the system, either way this is very shocking to say the least.

I have his contact no. and what item he bid on its in the history, but do you think that it how anything can be proved. I have not recorded the conversation, as it was incidental at that time. But still i dont want that guy to be in trouble.

My point is what do all think about Ebay and any other experience you guys can share.

Good one, but he is still helping Ebay cause they will receive more fees, if item is sold at higher price.

I want an account manager to shill bid my items! lol
I could make a killing if ebay provided this service for all its cutomers!
Be careful though, the call could have been recorded his end and they could use this against you to close your account at a later date as you agreed to his offer to shill bid your items. I think they could easily make you look like the guilty party in all this!

I have learn many things by my experience, and i do it my way it works for me at least.

Rogue account manager. Even eBay would not risk something like that getting out. I could believe it if there were a few of them colluding at it, there's very high fraud rates in South East Asia.
