do you offer free shipping?
 

I've offered free shipping in the past, but am wondering if it really does make your item seller for more or do you just lose money on shipping fees and paying more ebay fees?

Free shipping equals 5/5 on the DSR for P and P.

you sell an item for £55 with free shipping you get taxed on the £55

you sell and item for £50.00 and £5 postage, you get taxed for £50

i guess it depends on what you sell and the value of the items and how much it actually costs to send them.

I have never offered free shipping in the past except on items where every other seller was offering it so I could be competitive.

BUT, ever since eBay has rolled out their DSR program...I have moved all my USPS 1st Class items to free shipping. I found it has really helped to keep my "Shipping and handling charges" DSR score above 4.95

You have to choose what is best for you.

FVF are not charged on shipping/handling, and it really depends how quickly you ship. If you don't charge for shipping, and are still slow, you could still get popped with negatives, and poor ratings in other categories.

play with it....it is a game....if you see your shipping charge DSRs are getting low, start free shipping for a little while....or one week free one week not....

If you offer free shipping you get better placement on Ebay

I usually only do it if the item I am sending for free can be sent First Class.

I offered it recently on a Food Saver because I had trouble selling it. A guy from my State bought it so shipping was pretty reasonable



You have to account for the fact you pay higher Ebay fees too on the total amount .

I always do free shipping, and as someone above said, it seems to place you higher in the listings. I just factor the shipping charge in the item price. And since the average buyer is an idiot, they are magnetically drawn to the free shipping.

Experimenting with your stuff is always a good idea. It will depend on the item you market too. You cant really offer "free" shipping because you will want that money in price. Unless item is profitable enough to cover the shipping. Either way, its money out of your pocket so you have to work out if its a value to you. The fact that buyers cant piss all over your shipping DSR when you do free shipping is a pretty nice incentive.

Nothing like getting a 3 on shipping when it was free!

Offering free shipping is a good thing because buyers know exactly how much they will pay for an item without having to click on a listing. I like to be SUPER competitive with prices and still offer free shipping. :laugh:
