Like I said I just dont see the real difference between selling wholesale lists and pictures of items. As long as you do CLEARLY state that it is just a picture.

lakeman 12-08-2010 04:25 PM

You don't see the difference between a whole sale list and a picture?

One is a list of where to find the cheapest prices, the other is, well a picture.

I don't see anything wrong with selling wholesale lists for $20. Who thinks they are getting a Xbox, a flat screen tv, or any high end electronics for $20??

But selling them for $150 and up, yeah I think that's wrong.. But I know there's still people out there stupid enough that will buy it.

inthezone 12-08-2010 04:39 PM

Selling pictures of items is a way of scamming people out of their money. Sure, you put that in the description saying that the auction is only for a set of picture, not the actual item, however, your sole intention is to fool buyers who did not read the description while the other seller's sole intention is to sell a list that contains a bunch of wholesalers. So, the two are NOT the same!

transitionfighter 12-08-2010 05:06 PM

To be honest I still think the sole purpose of selling wholesale lists are to get people out of there money. Especially for any kind of money. It dont matter for $20 or up. I can guarantee at least one of those buyers who bought that 360 list thought they were getting a smoking deal. But it turns out they got a dumb wholesale list that is worth nothing to them at all. Same as the picture scam or the empty box scam. Yeah its there fault for being dumb and buying it without reading it. But its the same as the picture! They think there getting a deal, then it turns out to be something useless. It could have been a kid that saved up for along time and used his parents eBay account to buy that xbox. But what does he get? A stupid wholesale list that he cant do a thing with. DO you think he cares were to buy product from? Same goes for the picture scam. Whats he going to do with a picture of an item, and what is he going to do with a list? The outcome is the same!

Also as far as the picture thing goes, what if these buyers know what there getting and actually want a picture of what your selling. Its not a scam if they REALLY know what there buying. Like what was stated about the wholesale list.

I absolutely agree

cant put the seller at fault for peoples ignorance. i would gladly pay 150 bucks for a wholesale list if it indeed had a list of suppliers that sold the xbox at a price where i could make a profit. However there are real wholesalers that actually carry the xbox360 along with a lot of other items, it is not the fault of the list seller that the wholesale price from these wholesalers is maybe a dollar or 2 less than retail. As a consumer it is your responsibility to ask questions about what you are buying before you buy it, as a responsible adult it is your responsibility to make sure your child is not shopping online irresponsibly.

however i still cant see this guy lasting very long when people find out that you cant make a profit on new legit game consoles.

Maybe his intentions are to catch a few suckers, but that would be an assumption and we all know what happens when you assume things. it clearly says list on his title.

jbluntz 12-08-2010 09:05 PM

Yeah it clearly says list in the title but it's against ebay policy to sell anything e-mail delivery which he also clealy states in the description, that the list would be delivered by e-mail, which is probably why he doesn't have any listings up now since they most likely got removed.

Ghost 12-08-2010 09:28 PM

What I'm wondering is how has this guy's account stayed up for 8 months?

transitionfighter 12-08-2010 09:29 PM

Like I said I think this and the picture even empty box scam are all for the same purpose. I mean I could put up a listing right now and put in the title PICTURE ONLY and guarantee that I would sell sell sell.

troyzz 12-09-2010 03:17 PM

Buyers are going to be disappointed when they learn that they need a registered business and a large starting capital just to get started, and thats assuming the list is even legit. Plus, why spend money on a list when you can simply contact the manufacturer directly and ask them who their distributors are? Its not rocket science.

transitionfighter 12-09-2010 05:55 PM

Troyzz I couldnt agree more!

First Edition 12-09-2010 08:19 PM

You'd have to be certifiably stupid to buy this and think you're getting an xbox 360. I mean the kind of stupid that needs to wear a helmet when not laying in bed.... hardcore, super stupid.

Look at the amount of people that looked at it! 7059 hits and 4 sales? Wow... when you think of his insertion, fvf, and paypal... this is a great marketing tool. This also means 7055 people are not this dumb, OR they bought from a competitor at 39.99 :)

When the first XBox was released in the early 2000's, there were only 4 official wholesalers in the USA selling them. At that time, the Xbox retailed for $299.99 and wholesale price was $295 from Mecca Electronics. If that is a wholesale list then it must be a pretty small list.
