Default help!!! I don't want to pay seller eventhough the fault is mine.

hello all thanks for stopping by to my 1st post.

Now my questions.....

I am a potential buyer of an item that was listed on ebay. However this item was ending so with about 10 mins left i had place a bid ($4) on the item. After my bid was confirmed i noticed that the seller had a "shipping price" of $350. I admit that i was half asleep to notice at 2am ( i know stupid) but i do not want to pay for that item with an outrageous "shipping fee". the item is/was valued at $400

I have emailed them asking him for my bid to be retracted since it was in the allotted time frame but since the auction had ended . they responded "urging me to pay for the item" and also told me and i quote "In order to save me on eBay fee, I jacked up the shipping fee"

Is that even legal/allowed by ebay so that the seller can avoid paying his ebay fees.

do i have a case that i can be released from my error bid and what kind of repercussion can i look forward to for nonpayment?

last but not least
as a peace offering should i offer to pay $10 to cover his current minimal fees for listing

thanks for your help

What the seller did honestly is none of your business.

You are responsible to read an entire auction. You failed to do so whether you are half dead or not.

You wanted an item worth $400 for $4 . I'm very sure everyone in the right mind would laugh at this. Typical human greed tendencies. It's a matter of controlling yourself and have common sense.

You are the type of buyer that makes an error and blame the seller and look for seller's faults. And this forum is not for this kind of BS. We are here to help people who "truly" needs help.

Nonpayment repercussion? That's a very easy question. Ans: Suspension from eBay.

So here are my advice before I shut down this thread:

1. Pay the seller

2. Email him and be polite and nice. Offer him that $10 . Then it's upto the seller to decide.
