Random Ramble
Because of my posting title I was asked to read some other topics before posting. I did look at one about SSN and now I'm even more distressed. I just had some random thoughts, needed to vent and possibly some of my experiences will help some of you. I've been selling and buying on e P al for a number of years and rarely had any trouble. What led me to this site was a problem with a buyer and I'm now nervously waiting past the 48 hour time they said they would make a decision. I'd really like to buy the Stealth Book even though I don't know how much longer I can continue with the PayBay scammers anymore but finances aren't going to let that happen anytime soon. I have to consider myself lucky to have made it this far as back in 2001 or so the bank account I used was seized by the state for taxes they said I owed. I deposited my paycheck in the ATM and couldn't figure out why my balance was way negative. Everything had been fine until I used my ATM card to pay for a campsite at a state park which must have caused the state to boink my account. Since then I haven't been legitimately employed or had a real bank account. Currently I'm able to do some selling because of a CC and bank account in the name of someone with the same name who has since passed and I think the bank account is closed. I know this will be checked sooner or later and I'll bo OOB.
I had a good few weeks selling last year and it caused me to become a "power smeller" or "top smeller" I forget and without my permission all of my listings now had the little gold ribbon or something. When I read about the requirements to keep this little do-dad I knew I wouldn't be able to make them so I called customer service and asked to be removed from the program. The rep said, are you sure and when I said yes she said she was sorry I couldn't take advantage of all of the benefits. It seems like since then my sales have sucked and I don't seem to get the prices other people do for the same things. If I take a break from selling every now and then I'll get an email saying something similar to something I was watching had been listed. So I look at the item and see something I couldn't get $75. for going for about $175. in worse condition. So don't I jump and list mine again for $75. and that's just what I got. Another item I paid $4. for at a yard sale research told me was in demand and going fot about $150. so I list it starting at $5. which is just what I got for it. I've since taken to checking my listings from other computers and notice that my items sometimes don't show up in a search when not logged in as a user even when searching with the exact title. My advice here is if you get offered some kind of seller status just take it and try to keep up with their requirements because I think I've been penalized for opting out.
As it stands now I don't think I'm long for this anymore. I put a lot of work into describing items for listings, taking clear photos and starting items at a price which is the least I think I should get. I don't blame the economy because the people that are buying aren't hurting. I have control over 4 other accounts for people that I do all of the same caring work for although none are actively selling at this point but thanks to this site I now know that I shouldn't:
1. Use the same computer when working them.
2. Use my PayScam ATM card to buy postage for any of them
3. Probably shouldn't send my fee for services to myself from their accounts (with their permission as always).
4. ABSOLUTELY will not be using my own personal website to host photos for any of the accounts again. I get much nicer photos than the crap that shows with what you're stuck with but I don't want them to start messing with my site.
5. Probably will go with a blander listing page. I used notepad with different logos for each user and then paste the code in the HTML block of the listing page.
I could ramble more but I don't want to get banned from here. |
