What are you going to do when somebody needs to return something? You want to use a address that you have access to.

I wouldn't recommend this. The buyer may ask for a refund, not listen to you, and send the package back to the address stated on the pp account. Who knows what will happen after that...........

Is it possible to register this address with PayPal and once your are up and running, before your start selling, change only your return address to a P.O. BOX?

edit: I suppose problems could arise with the PO Box if the returned items are too big or in large quantity! What happens then!?

what you could do is have some pre-printed lables with your real address on it and when you mail out item you can put that label over your stealth address if they decide to return or if unit can't be delivered it will get return to you......also if buyer ask why returningto different address you can say it's the dropship address for returns

Ok, problem with that is, firstly it would encourage people to return an item, most people hate having to return stuff and usually accept things. Although I suppose if it is the only way around it, then it is good enough.

If we have to live with that, fine, but what about the new eBay return thingy in the Resolution Centre that people use to return the item, it uses the eBay account address obviously and people can end up still using that address and returning without contacting you.

I did see somebody mention a very good way of returning items, more for expensive items though. It was to have a delivery courier pick up the item from the customer and return it to your real address. Great idea! Because instead of having t give the customer your real address and explain the whole drop ship line everytime, you just say, 'I will get our courier to pick the item up from you, what date/time is best? (usually will be weekends)' and then arrange it over the internet in a few clicks.

You would probably have to maintain or at least encourage a customer to contact you before returning an item as well I suppose!

I use addresses around my neighborhood, and I put my real address on the return address on the box/package I am sending. Not sure how safe it is but I always put no refunds/returns at the bottom of my auction.

a return address sticker on package is a good idea.

I did that early on and it did not take long for a buyer to ask me how come the return address is different then the address on the email I got?

Buyers are not stupid and notice things that are different or odd to them.

Every time I've done a return the buyer asks for it first then I give them my return address by e-mail or just let him keep it. If they ask why the address is different, I just say I'm out of town or something, not like it's any of their business anyway.

nobody999 04-11-2011 12:42 AM

or you could just email them a return shipping label. tell them to stick it on the package, and drop it off at the post office, ups,or fedex.

agree that's the way it works! email return shipping address "why?" 'coz I'm out of town and caring for fast service!
