Should i give him full refund?

I sold an old pair of beat up boots for about $20 dollars. Listing fee's and shipping and everything coming to about $12.

The guy is not happy with them and want's a full refund. I said i would refund him everything but the shipping cost.

He wants a full refund. Should i give him full refund and take the loss? Would you?

My DSRS are still at an 'unacceptable' level even though i have 40 positive, 2 nuetral and 0 negative this month. WTF is with that?

I got my old account back after talking to ebay. Not sure if i want to risk it by only refunding half.

What would you do?

Thanks

First I closed the poll. If you had left out the 2nd. last option, it might have stayed.

Seriously, it's $32 on an account that is shaky and you want to treat a buyer like that?

(Dont for one moment think I've not done that myself because I have. That was ages ago when accounts were a lot easier to make.)

Wear it and the old boots....give them to a charity instead of endangering your account.
'Old boots' are of value only if they were worn by some hero. Be fair dinkum :pop2:

100% agree with GreenBean, $32 is nothing.

I have made $445 in refunds this month alone and just consider it some bad luck and the cost of doing business.

Let your customer just keep those "old pair of beat up boots" and move on. :bolt:

Simple! :)

ShadyOne 04-24-2011 07:28 AM

Haha, the poll, "tell him to get fu...".

You should do that, less competition for me, I sell old boots...

Seriously though, if you want a good standing account in the future, the kind of account that you can actually sell on without limits then stop selling old boots OR refund as soon as they ask. This is eb ay protocol for sellers.

I would not ask them for feedback either, I got a feeling that the 'Description' DSR is not going to be very high for a start ;)

Shady, ha i asked him for 5 star ratings and he said 'deal' after giving him a full refund. I wish i knew what to sell. I honestly sell a lot of used junk i get at thrift store's or people throw out. It's amazing some of the stuff that sells, broken skateboards, broken cameras, old shoes, old boots... Im moving back to the u.s. / canada and not sure what im going to do to start selling again over there. Think ill start hitting the auction circut. All you guys sound like you know what the heck your doing and where to get stuff. Skimming through posts has shown me a whole other side to e b ay. Im thinking i should get some back up accounts going just incase mine ever does fail. Im a 'unacceptable' buyer satisfaction level, just had my review, and i have 40 positive and one neutral. WTF?

productpast 04-25-2011 06:51 AM

Ha and i sent him the quote

Old boots' are of value only if they were worn by some hero. That's the last pair i'll ever list.

I think he chuckled.

Of course this stuff sells but such bad conditioned items also leaves you open for bad feedback and disputes. People just don't read listings properly or sellers may miss a vital peice of info on damaged items. You have to be PRECISE with listing descriptions.

I would not personally sell broken skateboards on a eba y account I wanted to use for 'business' sales in the near future. If this is your business, then good luck with it.

Low DSR's is your problem. What are they?

productpast 04-25-2011 07:08 AM

not sure off hand, but i've been selling junk 100 plus items in 2 months and had very few complaints. Even selling shoes! I thought i would get tons of people saying they don't fit, but not even the case. Boot's guy was the first one.

When i got my first suspension, i asked everyone for 5 stars and they started flooding in. Def. asking for 5 stars makes a huge difference. A couple emails got my account back up and running.

It was my post and handling charges that really got me last time, i think it was like 4.38 or somthing. Offering free shipping really bumped up my score huge!

I guess they're not 'GREAT' because im not above the average...

ShadyOne 04-25-2011 07:25 AM

How many low 1's and 2's though?

Go to sellers dashboard.

productpast 04-25-2011 07:28 AM

Your 1 and 2 ratings(during 4-week period)
Count Performance
