| | | | | Superdude | 04-30-2011 12:20 PM | Problems with Ebay Phone Registration I just finished setting up a new Ebay Stealth account with all new name, email,CC,addresses etc etc. I then added the email to my paypal account which already has 2 emails(unlinked to other ebay seller accounts) and i am now waiting the 30 days for it to age.
However when i was registering the new Stealth account I had no phone number to add so i just flicked through my phone book and entered my friends house number as my primary phone number. Here in Ireland we have to use landlines when registering and cannot use mobiles!
I dont actually have access to the phone i registered but i figured id try talk to my friend and tell him it would only be for 2 seconds and they wouldnt be calling him non stop or anything!
Then today i saw someone saying you can use a new google application called google voice to forward calls to a mobile or landlince? Is this true? If so will someone please explain how to use google voice to do this when dealing with ebay?
Any help would be greatly appreciated! |
| GrannyT | 04-30-2011 12:43 PM | Does SOHO66 cover the Emerald Isle?:noidea: |
| Imakemoney | 04-30-2011 01:12 PM | Yeah soho66 is the main one used here in the UK for stealth purposes.
Only just over 2 pounds per number but best to pay the extra 2 pound something each month to keep the number live incase ebay/paypal call. :peace: |
| oompaloompa | 04-30-2011 01:36 PM | you dont need a landline anymore for UK or ireland, to register a seller account, a mobile on file will do. |
| Imakemoney | 04-30-2011 01:50 PM | A landline will be needed for paypal though. |

It says > Primary telephone number ,then has 2 boxes and underneath says 'Please enter your dialling code followed by your phone number.
Required in case we need to contact you about your account' |
| ShadyOne | 04-30-2011 02:44 PM | @Superdude, I would say that you should have an active land line that you have access to because PayPal are much worse than eBay as they are 'fussy' about being able to contact the account holder whenever they want.
It is common for them to instantly limit your account if they tried to contact you and was unsuccessful.
As the guys above have mentioned, all you need to do is purchase a local landline number from a VoIP website like Soho66 - Business VoIP | Fax Email | Business Telephony and have your chosen land line number forwarded to a your mobile phone if PayPal attempt to phone you.
Simple. Cost money though. Cheaper than risking a 180 day limit :D |
| ShadyOne | 04-30-2011 02:46 PM | Also, oompa was talking about ebay. Probably because you posted this in the eBay section and your thread title refers to ebay as well :D |
| Superdude | 04-30-2011 02:51 PM | @ShadyOne, Well all the landline numbers i had now belong to suspended paypal and ebay accounts so i think il go with the VoIP this time! The thing is do my Paypal is verified with a Credit Card as has all the withdrawal limits lifted and its about 8 months old so is there really a chance they will call me?
Suppose i would trade some pocket change to avoid that damn 180 day **** anyday:D |
| Imakemoney | 04-30-2011 02:53 PM | yes it is a high probability that paypal will call you.
Ive noticed recently paypal calling more and more.:juggle: |

Happened to me and they then requested documents. ID, proof of address etc
Having an active land line for the first few months is a must, after that you could keep it active simply so nobody else ever uses it with PayPal and if PayPal ever did try to call you, they could :D |

Like do you pay them a small fixed sum and they give you a landline number(which can be used with Ebay)? And then you just set it up to forward to whatever landline or mobile number you want? |
| ShadyOne | 04-30-2011 03:08 PM | ^^ That is essentialy it yes, soho66 does actually give great explanations on the whole process. |
| Imakemoney | 04-30-2011 03:16 PM | Yeah you can just forward it to your mobile thats easier.
Soho66 has quite a user friendly interface also so you should be fine using it. |
| Superdude | 04-30-2011 03:24 PM | So i could forward to a landline number that has already been blacklisted by Ebay and they would never no? :cheer: |
