At the moment there is litigation with Tiffany v ebay: ebay has become ever
vigilant to prevent itself being sued by Intellectual Property owners. When ebay first started in what we might call the good old times, there were great chances to sell and make money. Greed of some sellers and the increase of ebay's stranglehold has caused change.
It is not primarily what you sell but other factors: one at this point is the fact
that buyers are being given more power than sellers. So if a buyer gets an
attack of the nasties ( for any reason) damage can be done and an account
becomes suspended. eg, one of the forum users posts articles from Japan, his
listings state the time it takes to send out the article but a buyer thought
it should have arrived nearly overnight.
Boils down to a few things, lack of performance in your own account, attempting to make big bucks too quickly, buyers from hell and other factors.
The most pertinent factor is that ebay is controlling what is done and therefore a seller must always be vigilant.
