phone verification required

Hi all

ive tried to create sellers account for three differents users
since this week each time ebay requieres phone verification before letting post the first listing

has anyone else encountered this?

I am in UK and this is how it has always been for me.

Maybe it is the category. I haven't had that problem. Usually verification comes after 90 days.

fighting with paypal or ebay is usually fruitless, the 21 days hold is since 2009
strange to hear that in the uK it has allways been like this, that before first sale ,a verification is needed....

Just curious, do you have a way to verify? I am getting ready to open a stealth account. It has been 4 years since my last one and I am going to have to deal with the verification.

one member here suggested buying a sim card just to verify the number, i might just try this
but i would love another way

Have you read the stealth guide? It clearly recommends using VOIP service.

You could by one of those disposable tracfones or use a virtual phone number provider like vumber or inumber. Just make sure you set the call to connect directly to your phone.

Ebay knows my cell phone number so I am thinking about adding another phone/number to my existing plan. I am with AT&T and I was told it would be $10 per month. I would have a separate phone, number, and would be completely untraceable. You can get it unlisted and they told me something else (I don't remember what it was) but that Ebay & PP would never be able to retrieve your real name/info. You are going to need to have a working phone in case buyers need to contact you. if they can't get through because you do not have a phone they will relay this to Ebay.
