Default Ebay minimum feedback and age before selling high risk electronics?

Hi guys! First off I'd like to say thank you for letting me post on here, this is my first post and I'm pretty much a noob. lol

I made a stealth Ebay and Paypal account, and i registered for a seller account. The first auction i listed was when my ebay account was 5 days old, it was a high risk electronic item. (a new ipod touch 8gb) Surprisingly, I wasnt hit with an MC010 suspension the moment i listed it, and even more surprisingly, ebay let the auction run its lifespan and end on its scheduled time. The auction is now over and the item is delivered and the buyer's money is now in my paypal.

That was last week, and for now I'm listing pictures for sale starting at $0.01, so i can raise my feedback. By tomorrow, my feedback will be 12 (9 of which are selling feedbacks), and my account will be aged 15 days.

I WOULD wait before i sell my next high end item, but i need to get rid of my iphone 4 this month, before its price drops drastically when the iphone 5 comes out sometime in september.

So

1. If I post my iphone 4 on ebay this week, what are my chances of ebay not screwing me with with a suspension?

2. How long should i age my ebay account and how many feedbacks should i get before i start selling high end electronics?

3. Does the fact that my ebay account was able to list a high risk item for its first sale without problems give me a better chance of listing my next high risk item without getting hit with a suspension?

4. Does the fact that my iPhone is used give me a better chance at all? Should i provide a truckload of pictures and describe it extremely well?

5. What would YOU do?

Thank you in advance!
The complete step-by-step guide to get back to selling today!

Just adding some extra info here.

The paypal account was made at the same time as the ebay account and is verified, it has a virtual bank account on it.

Also, miraculously, paypal did not hold my fees for 21 days when my buyer paid me. They were available starting day 1. idk how im getting so lucky.. i posted 4 pictures of the ipod i was selling and i described it well, maybe that was the reason?

Thank you!

1. Odds are you will get the 21 day hold eventually, but will not be permanent if you dont have any selling issues.

2. Anything iPhone is high risk whether it is the actually legit phone itself or cheap cases. I would craigslist that, since they market is so wide, and there is no point to risk an account for one item.

3. Start selling household used/new items, and make sure to take plenty of pics, tell the truth, and ship immediatly.

4. Dont start bulk listing until after 90 days (thats when you can raise your limits).

That sounds like me last month. I too had to get rid if my iPhone 4 before they come out with the iPhone 5. I listed mine 1 wk after I created my first stealth account, I did buy it now and it sold that same wk. Unfortunately the guy was from Nigeria and ebay cancelled transaction.

I tried to relist it but it only allows you to sell one item from the cell phone category every 30 days without confirming your identity. So now i have to wait 20 more days before I can relist it.

Aw bro that sucks. You should've made an exclusion list on your item listing. Those damn Nigerian scammers..

Well I just posted my iPhone, I scheduled the start for tomorrow evening. Wish me luck.. I am so expecting to get screwed this time though.

Just from what I have read lately I would think buying/selling cheap photos to get feedback would cause more harm that what you are worried about.

If you are selling a used phone of yours you should have no problems. I have sold all my old phones in the past new and old accounts with no issues.

You will probably be hit with the category limit but if you are only selling 1 more you may be okay.

Thank you for the info! I think you're right on that, because eBay didn't take down my listing. And alright I will take your advice and stop selling pics for feedback, that whole thing was pretty sketchy to me from the start.

So then I guess the suspensions only apply to new sellers trying to sell brand new items? I also have a used iPad 2 I wanna get rid of sometime this month, do u think it'll be wise to list that up too?

And kingray, I have another question, were you selling high end phones or regular phones on your accounts?

One was an iphone 3 and had a close to new ipod.

As long as you arent selling multiples and relisting the same thing every time one ends or claiming brand new and having a super cheap price you will be fine.

Its out of the gate with qty new that will kill you every time. doing what you are doing I would not worry. You might space those things out a bit since you do have some higher end stuff all at once. Can you list them a month apart? or just throw the ipad on CL. My son sold his and a friends for pretty good money on CL recently. Got as much or more that ebay had them going for. Plus no fees. Just an idea. atleast there is no ebay problem that way. I also list on CL during the week. I get more sales monday and tuesday mornings than I get all week.

Thank you so much! I will be sure to check out CL. Would you advise me to use a stealth name for CL, or is it entirely risk free? And are the chances of the buyer running off with both your product and your money lower than it is on eBay? I stayed away from that site cos my friend said he traded his xbox 360 for some money and weed on CL.. That's just so unprofessional lol.

Beware selling the pictures on Ebay for a penny to try to get feedback. You will get busted for VERO with that. Ebay calls that feedback manipulation and will limit your account immediately. Trust me this has been done before and since your a newbie I will highly advise against it. As for selling the iPhone or iPod. I can't believe it worked, but you must have done something right. From what I can tell now it seems as though Ebay will let you sell somewhat you want for the first 10/$1000 without holds. Theyre way of making sure is to not let you sell more than 10/$1000.

CL is basically classified ad. They have to come and give you cash. I have them meet at the closest gas station or Quik Trips we have here. Always have had good luck on CL with certain items like that. Great for big items for sure.

Just sign up with any info. No one gets to see any real info. You would just post your phone # if you wanted to have them call instead of email. You get a lot of spam emails though when listing.

i actually called ebay earlier today to lift my limits so i can sell more penny pictures but the guy explained to me really nicely that ebay has a policy against selling intangible items and feedback manipulation, so i told him i wont sell em again and that i had no idea.
do you think he flagged my account? i mean he sounded really nice but you never know.. :P

Just make a new email address for it and you are golden. Nothing else needs to be done.
No paypal or anything else.

as for the other thing you said. I dont think they ebay phone rep flagged anything. You said you would stop so I am sure thats the end of it. I would just not do it for sure.

oops i meant "unused email" not "unused ebay" lol sorry bout that.

thanks again for your help. i have another question, if ebay flags you for something like feedback manipulation, does that increase the risk of getting suspended for some other unrelated reason like posting a high volume of high risk items?

and one more thing.. what exactly is a vero item?

It might hurt you later but really each case is different and there is no set rule that they have.

As for the VERO thing, Go to ebay and do some research on that term. There is a lot of info regarding it and it would fill up this post if I listed it here. lol.

Not that I am lazy, I would just be searching for it and pasting it in here for you.

Many people have their opinions on what it means and many are wrong. read what ebay has to say and ask questions on here if you dont understand part of it.

There is also a Thread on these forums about it. I would start with ebay though.
