Why did I receive this?

I just created my stealth accounts. When I tried listing my second item eBay tried to get me to answer some questions, I failed and it said unable to confirm identity. Now it says Please contact customer care to help us confirm your identity. Once your identity is confirmed you can continue with your activity. How do you guys avoid this.

Is this account trash now?

And will the first item I listed get taken down?

jbluntz 10-07-2011 12:20 AM

That normally happens when you clear cookies, so you cleared cookies after listing your first item?

gismo 10-07-2011 12:26 AM

But I didn't erase the cookies or anything.. Okay I will do.. I will try avoid calling them though unless they call me

Read your Stealth Guide,,,It talks about this,,,Not many people will answer a Thread with such a BASIC Problem that the Stealth Guide Covers,,,

Slapped's approach is direct and to the point - this process of step-by-step leading is getting troublesome.

...Blah! Stop trying to sell high end items on fresh accounts!

RedShootingStar 10-07-2011 06:29 PM

If you dont call them, then your account isnt going to go anywhere but down.

Sandy D 10-07-2011 09:25 PM

You either listed a risky item or you accidentally clear your cookies because they normally do not do this if everything goes well.

Something you did triggered this.

Everyone needs to list some household, garage sale type items on a new account. No way around it.

Looks like your going to have to bite the bullet and call e bay.

I started a thread about this same issue because it happened to me but then the message came back the next day when I tried to relist an item.
I was wondering what they could possibly ask on an account without an ssn or where do you think they get this info from? Just wanna be ready with answers for the ?'s

They get the information from public records. They will ask regarding propery previously owned (what color is the car you owned, which of these vehicles did you own)... and questions about relatives (What month were you born in, what month was this person born in...)

If you get the questions in ebay I think the good news is that they might reset themselves each time you log into the account - try logging in and out a few times and delete all cookies after each time, it will give you a few more chances to pass the test.

SAE Inc 11-15-2011 03:58 PM

But if your using xxxxx how would they get public info on that?

I guess what would they do if there is none...?
