Default Phone call to lift limits

I realize this goes against my own philosophy, and that of other board veterans, but I'm seriously debating calling to try to lift limits on one of my accounts.
25 positive feedback
No cases
7 month old account
DSRs all 5.0

Any thoughts? Any luck with this? Recently went from 10 to 20.

Well it won't work if you sell anything shady. Eb could ask for invoices. From what I understand, they will just ask you some identity confirmation questions... Assuming you are using a made up name, most of the answers to their questions should be something along the lines of "none of the above." Otherwise, answer based on the information on your account. So if they say, what city were you born in? Say I've lived in blah blah city (whatever city you have on your account) my whole life. If the list of possible answers does not fit your account info, then go with none of the above. Also make sure to call from a stealth phone number.

Let us know how it goes or send me a PM with how it goes.

This is absolutely not written in stone but here lately, if you use a bogus name and info they will not be able to locate any questions and if they can't do that, they ask you to fax in info and if you can't do that within a certain time, your account automatically gets suspended until you can....sucks for just trying to start on the small limits at first, but it keeps the account open until it automatically lifts....

As with everything with ebay/paypal somethings work for some but not for others, and something will work one time but not the next.

As far as the confirming goes, it is best to try to take the online quiz vs. calling in. It will sometimes give you that option once you click the conrim identity option and put in your name and address. It has to be a real address and last name so they can generate the questions.

They now access a DMV database, so along with real estate and personal question of relatives birthdays and previous address, you will need need to know those. None of the above is rarely an option anymore.

Your best bet is to drive around a neighborhood where people park their cars in their driveways and take a picture. You can answer some of the DMV questions that way.

Still with all the prep, I am only getting 30% success. However, you should call in and take a chance using your tracfone or spoof card. The account is dead anyway if you do not try, and if they deny you, you still get to fax in shopped documents to try and save it.

I hear a lot of people talking about eb and PP calling them... I agree it's good to have a valid phone number on all your accounts, but I have never once answered a phone call from eb or PP. They don't do anything if you don't answer so maybe this is just their way of fishing to catch people's mistakes...?

i dont know about ebay calls, but not answering a paypal call after making a withdrawal = death to the paypal account.

I agree. I wont risk it myself but be ready for the ID questions.

If you fail you will go down.

For me, not worth the risk as picky as they have been lately.

I've had them call over 85$ its not worth losing the account. I mean you only really need the phones near by during a withdraw just in case eventually they may call. EBay randomly did call me two days ago asking about my listings and my limits but it wasn't anything scary but still its just not being safe not having the number active but do whatever you gotta do

Wow 100 feedbacks? There is no safe number with Ebay I guess :(

@OP

I suggest against calling them as others have pointed out.

I think I'm going to make some extra accounts, list a few items, and then call to try to get the limits raised. I'll see what the success rate is, could be worth it...
