But not in one cohesive package. I'm planning on waiting for a ARM tablet (or maybe even a tablet sporting a upcoming intel mobile processor) that is dedicated to run the mobile version of Windows 8 than one that is actually a full fledge PC tablet.

hhhhaahah tablets are toys.
laptop NO BRAINER, if you plan on spending long hours behind this thing and getting some serious work done i'd even go with a desktop. Nice full size keyboard, big 20 inch LED screen, etc etc etc. It will save you money and last longer via upgrades.

A mobile device/tablet would never work for me. I purchased a $150 netbook so it was squeaky clean and could not be linked/tracked at all. No issues and have done this on countless accounts for years.

There is a Standard Version and a Business Version the ONLY difference I believe is additional bundeled software with the Business version. Either can be used with X86, X64 or ARM Processors. Windows 8 Consumer Preview

The PC version of Windows 8 have many variations like Windows 7 such as Home basic, Premium, Professional, Ultimate, and etc. There is only one ARM version however, and it's closed source/embedded only. It's kinda like iOS and Android, the OS is shipped on the device. But unlike android you cannot just grab the source code/install disk and install it on the device as the bootloader that Windows 8 ARM prevents you from doing that, and it's closed source as I have previously mentioned.

For mobile computing, the iPad rocks. I'd say if there's any way possible, try and do it with the iPad. The mobility and light weight is so sweet. My Alienware is like a tank.
I haven't finished reading all the replies yet, but doesn't the iPad hide cookies or IP addresses from EB better also?

Neither one is "terrible". Cripes....millions sold, and yet they're terrible....
Eggplant is terrible.
Communism is terrible.
A ferret clamped on your finger, is terrible.
But an iPad? Come one....

Alienware computers are terrible. Hideous looking designs, extremely overpriced, and often comes with low quality hardware.

They use cheap quality components - and they have alot of issues. They weight more than 10 pounds, defeating the whole purpose of a laptop in the first place.
They don't even look good.......lack design and ingenuity. They have had the same design for the past 10 years. I'm surprised they haven't created a glow in the dark version.

Or rather, lights up your room in the dark

Looks like Jblutz deleted his posts.
To answer the OP'S question, you should get a laptop. You should take a look at MSI, ASUS, and ACER products. I would stay away from HP laptops - they suffer from overheating issues, but that can easily be solved with due diligence. When ever you buy a laptop, make sure you install software which monitors the temperature of the laptop. Clogged fans from hair and dust are the most common issues - give your laptop a good inner cleaning every now and then. When I buy a laptop I make sure it's easy to open up, in order to clean them.
The problem with the IPAD, IPHONE and other smartphones is the fact that they have a 'built in battery.' Guess what happens when you want to change it? Your going to have to take it apart, just to change a single component.

I'd get a laptop just for the fact that it's annoying as **** to type on an ipad or any tablet. You're also gonna be doing a myriad of tasks that an ipad is just not suitable for. Laptop and it's not even close.
