Should I get iPad3 or Laptop ?
 

OMG OMG OMG ... :clap:

I was thinking to buy a brand new laptop with lots of memory to replace my older laptop. But then I found program called iAccounts which works on iPad etc ... Do you guys think it will be a good idea to buy iPad 3 instead of a laptop to save money? Do you think it will be able to handle 20+ accounts. I realize that even the newest apple CPU is no match for Intel quad core i7 but I also realize that iPad is tuned in order to work faster. What's your opinion?

Buying Apple products is not "saving money". And no, even that silly A5X is not going to keep up with a full blown laptop. There are so many different factors that make a legitimate laptop better that there is no room for comparison. It's not just processor to consider.

If you are serious about business,,about making money,,then the Laptop is the way to go,,,NO Pad, Ipad or otherwise can match th computing power of even an i3 FORGET the i7, Doesn't matter what kind of "Tuning" the ipad has,,a Cheap $500 Laptop will out perform ANY Pad,,,,

Make some money,,,then you can have BOTH,,,and whenever you feel like "Playing" you can use your ipad

Laptops all the way! i'm still not swaying by the appeal of iPads personally, so much more flexibility with laptops when it comes to upgrading, changing hardware etc.

Plus prices for laptops hugely beat tablets!!

When you change user accounts its not the processor that determines how fast you can change accounts, its the speed of your hard drive that will determine that.

My core quad laptop boosts up faster then my i7 quad laptop. My core quad has a SSD drive vs a normal hard drive on the i7. The i7 had a ssd drive but i sold it cuz i wanted more space. So get a cheap 1st gen i3 or i5 small laptop and pop in a ssd drive.

Even though I like my Iphone I still rather use a Laptop for everything I do. I own a Compaq Presario that I've had for 4 years and it does it all. Ipads are just smaller versions of netbooks which I already hate since they sometimes cost almost the same as a regular laptop with next to nothing power.

I have a blackberry tablet and a laptop. I use the blackberry to check surf while I am in bed. The rest of the day I am on the laptop. Nothing beats a full keyboard and installation of any software you want.

Thank you so much to every single one of you. I think I was just too excited about iPad 3 being my primary workspace. I guess maybe in the future when iPad 10 cpu, memory, hard drive are equivalent to that of a laptop or pc then it would be wise to consider. Until then it's just a toy and is primarily good to play games and surf the net. :canada:

id say laptop.. maybe in 2-5 years Tablet is going to dominate Laptop.

Some new technology will always dominate some old technology. In 2-5 years I'm sure something will dominate the tablet or Ipad.

For flexability I would prefer ipad and use it with the switch app which gives you different browser's along with using the iphone's personal hotspot. With a good dash mount you can keep on top of your accounts even while driving or just sitting in your car, of course it wouldn't hurt to have both.

Have an Ipad and do not like it very well.

I'm suprised you don't like it Sandy, I remember there was a time I didn't like it either but that was before I bought it though. In the car, coffee shops, bars etc. are some good places to use it IMO too many things you can do with an ipad/tablet you can't do with a laptop, but again it never hurts to have both.

I don't know but I always wanted to get an Ipad. It's great to surf the net while you are in bed. Also great to watch porn etc ... But I guess I will have to buy both iPad and a new laptop. Also SSD isn't always what contributes to how fast your computer will be preforming. CPU and memory (RAM )are also very important counterparts.

imo an ifad is a toy. Albeit a pretty powerful toy - great for watching movies and reading and procrastinating on...but you can't do any real work on it. Hell it doesnt even have a sd slot- how do you get pics onto it easily for your listings? How do you do ...anything!?

A laptop running windows...now we are talking! That would be much better. Apple sucks (the money out of your wallet) in my opinion.

Maybe when windows release Win8 it may be time to consider a tablet...

And also don't forget about the remote desktop app where you can access your windows pc desktop from your ipad/iphone and pocket cloud (virtual machine) then there's also a mac changer app if you're using amazon, then there's the optional external keyboard. You can pretty much do all the same stuff on the ipad, load pictures, print everything.

Tablet will never dominant laptops, they are two completely seperated markets.
Buying an iPad over a laptop is the complete opposite of saving money.

Or, you could just buy a $200 laptop and skip all that nonsense. Case in point here...you just pointed out all the reasons why tablets do not compare by any means.

I think all PC monitors in the nearest future will be touch screen. So I think iPad is just a predecessor to tablet pc market that most of us will have in the future. I think there will be an Ipad version PC with a screen over 17 inch. Something that will have a usb port and much more powerful cpu and gpu. Give it sometime folks.

Those are called all in ones, and there are already plenty of them in the wild. Its purpose also cannot replace neither laptops not desktops entirely.

LOL! PLEASE BEHAVE! Every single one of you made a good point. Even though some of your points were contradicting one another. I still think the future of PC is ALL IN ONE. No more BULKY DESKTOPS. What we call desktop today will have a touchscreen and a build in powerful cpu and gpu with lots of memory in the future.

We're discussing functionality here. And your argument fails so you have nothing left to say and start firing insults. Way to go. You know you're like 40yrs old right? You have a used 3 series and an iPad so pace yourself with that ego. It goes far beyond what is actual reality.

id say got with a lappy cause its a pain in the ass just to do simple tasks with a ipad or touch screen phone. Are society seems like its wanting to faze desktops and probly lappys in the future. ever notice that not may stores sell desktops no more.

Jbluntz you can have a laptop perched on a car dash but it just makes for not so good driving.

for ebay related stuff you need a windows pc to do it the most effective but if it wasnt for that i would always use my galaxy tab

Will never happen. AIOs are too expensive to manufacturer also too difficult to maintenance/upgrade. It also severely lacks hardware customizability. It will only serve well as a kiosk to be honset. It can also be used where iMacs are found, but still not commonly applicable to everyday life. There are lots of reasons of why they are not popular and will not be, these are only few.

also having a laptop or a pad perched on your dash will make for a good car theft and busted out window.

Plus a laptop on the dash would look like sh*t, I'm much too happy with my ipad and dash mount, it's what you call luxary driving and I still bring my laptop with me to but I keep that in the back pack.
