Rival seller trying to ruin account

Had 2 bids recently from new ebayers with address v similar to rival seller, lOw and behold 2 cases open demanding full refund as item not as described

Whats the best way to combat this?

jamblix 03-27-2012 04:49 AM

Eh durrr, can you not read

New account, paid for item, case open, cannot stop them opening new ebay

jamblix 03-27-2012 06:05 AM

So, what? Canceling his bids would still solve the problem. 0 feedback = non paying or worse in my eyes. I cancel every 0 feedback bidder on all my auctions for the reason "I do not allow buyers with 0 feedback to bid on (multiple of) my items" when canceling.

Saves time, $ and non-pay cases and you avoid things like you said above, I also check every top bidders feedback. Of course some might believe 0 feedback buyers are good, I find a majority of them don't pay, don't leave feedback, or purposely buying to sabotage so I stopped selling to them.

I monitor every auction to the end and time my auction schedules accordingly to suit multiple accounts. The competitors and scams usually set-up automatic bids to really high levels and you can watch out for these things easily and most of the time they won't be padding their feedback scores just to screw with their competition screw with you.

Ok so maybe the durrr was out of hand, but there's nothing you can do after it's done. Best way to combat this? Avoid it before it happens.

Submit all the proof needed - call up eb - explain the situation. No simple solution - you will have to keep pushing with this one.

I had this problem myself. Very sly and underhand.

I had a lot of proof. They were paying using the PayPal account registered to their business account, having it sent to the same address registered on their business account etc.

eBay said there's nothing wrong with a person who buys the same goods that you both sell from you! Apparently they could have bought them for a number of reasons, in my case the same price. Then they left negative feedback and low DSR.

eBay was ZERO help.

oompaloompa 03-27-2012 06:33 AM

yeah but OP is saying they have paid, so regardless of if you cancel it, they will leave neg feedback, plus probably deny the cancellation request so you pay fees.

I agree it is tough, if you know who it is, do the same back. Let them know you will keep doing it until they stop....

GTB 03-27-2012 06:38 AM

oomps is spot on

dont rely on ebay to have your back

GreenBean 03-27-2012 06:49 AM

And meet some fruitloop who will let you damage your own account?
You did it to me so I will do it to you. & on & on & on
That's mature. Not.

What makes you think some idiot would not go on making accounts just to really kill yours?

Alter your listing requirements like jamblix said.

Sit on the listings & check....
Skin the buyer another way:violin:

GTB 03-27-2012 07:01 AM

IMO he is a fruitloop anyways

but yeah alter settings to try stop this in future, but whos to say he cant get around them,if he wants to do it bad enough he will easily

maybe if he gets a taste of his own he mite think twice

dburnside 03-27-2012 09:18 AM

If they pay by paypal u cannot cancel bids

I have a 1500 100% feedback and I no doubt they will leave negative feedback, google is great I checked the postal address and other seller is registered at address, they bought 2 items I only posted one as I suspected them

I can play their game and do the same back and constantly be under attack, or I can find a sneaky way to get them back

rsot 03-27-2012 10:19 AM

Hope it works out for you.

Been there. There is really no stopping it. Seriously feedback can be purchased with one cent. Sometimes you do not even have to buy the feedback.

Recently, i had a situation, where a buyer tried the above on me. I kept blocking his new open today zero feedback accounts. Canceled all my listings, waited a few weeks, problem solved he lost interest.

In another case, i was determined to get pay back. But i will not go into details. It was very ugly for him. He lost money, goods, and account. Sometimes people need to be punished in such a way. He pushed the button by threating me, calling over and over late at night. Very long story.

Wish i could change my name to TopRatedAgain lol.

1. Cancel bids.
2. Refund money after return item sent if they already left negative feedback. If not refund money depends on situation first and be nice to buyer make some story up real sad one. Works sometimes.
3. Call ebay and explain.
4. Block buyers and hope for the best.
5. :)

Yes there is a way. but it may cost you a few sales and take a few weeks.
First, you have to take off BIN option and immediate payment required option. Then any time during the week you have a zero feedback bidder, cancel their bid and block their id. They will now wait for the end of your auctions. So now you can manually end the auctions and sell to real high bidder 12 hours before actual close. You can even put at top in Big BOLD RED LETTERS something like "due to my competition place faké bids at the last minute all auctions will end 12 hours early. So bid now if interested." Or you could just let them run the course a have a quick cancel bid finger if they are using sniping. After a few weeks I find they move on. Also is you know for a fact it is your competition, do they same to him and neg him a couple of times and let him know that if he continues his attacks so will you.

I really HATE sellers who engage in this underhanded nonsense. They all think they are smart, but many people have tried it before them. Most of the time, they end up with cancelled accounts.

Still, I'd like to <Censored>

a quick google search will often reveal names of his relatives and/or neighbors. Call them and ask why he would engage in such behavior. Trust me on this one, he will end it immediately. Works even better if you can find out what his work number is, which isn't really all that hard.

One guy dogging me on Amazon - who managed to push every last one of my buttons - was stupid enough to give enough real information in his threat-mail that I was able to find his home phone number. I called and had a really interesting talk with his mother. She spoke English, but not very well. I was nice to her, but I used words like illegal, unethical, questionable, actionable and criminal. He called me back like 2 hours later on my Trac-Fone and basically begged me not to turn him in or call his mother again. I hope he pissed himself.

I feed and clothe my family with the money I make from Ebay so if someone is trying to interfere with that, I go to great lengths to end that interference
