How good is your record keeping?

Do you use outlook? Write everything down? maybe type it in your iphone?

I don't just mean profits, but pretty much everything. For those who manage 10+ accounts, it must take a lot of organization not to screw everything up.

So far, I've been using Maxthon browser that has a built-in notepad and I've been pretty much logging every detail of what I do, as well as what my Ip address is, mac address, order numbers, etc. Then back it up to a portable hard drive. Probably not even necessary yet, but I like being organized.

I'm starting to sell so I want to start off as organized as possible.

I think I'm just too paranoid because of past experience and maybe reading too many horror stories haha

Excel spreadsheet is great for recording keeping.

Plenty of examples on the forum.

I save everything to OpenOffice, a free program like MS Office but free.

I save the file to a flash drive and I keep an updated record in my smartphone. I also upload one to my email at least once a week in case I lose everything. I can open the file on my phone if I need to.

I use a custom built web-based application. Grabs all sales data automatically, no manual work involved!

I have to many ebay/paypal accounts to keep track of and I am generally very disorganized. The best I do is a txt document of all my registering info and using thunderbird to gather all the emails to ship.

I am struggling with this

I was thinking of using quicken home and business---but it seems like there might be some limitations. also not to sure on letting it connect to the PP stealths for grabbing data? any suggestions?

I don't log all my ip's like a lot of users. I just keep track of the assigned Mac address and usually just hope the IP's don't interchange, which I don't think they're supposed to.

As far as stealth info, I keep it all logged in an excel spreadsheet and I recommend anyone who has more than 1 stealth account do the same. It's too easy to get mixed up and you want to know all your registration info in case you ever have to call ebay.

I got a new computer and on a few of my stealth accounts it made me call to verify my account. They asked the usual security questions like address, dob etc. . .you want to make sure you have all that just in case you need it.

I keep the excel on my hardrive and every once in a while, back it up to a card. I also regularly print out my stealth info to have handy on my desk because I reference it a few times daily. If worse came to worse and all I had was that printout, I could use it to input the data back.

You got to keep that stuff, it's way too important to lose.

Only limitations are the ones 'we' make.

Combination of quickbooks & excel sees me through the trials and woes of being stealth. All systems for all accounts is back up x3.

Then, in my real work I am required to have intricate records of accounts. Was an easy translation of stealth.

Some other threads below that could help make the right moves :peace:

Accounts I am selling on go on folders with all the info right in front of me in case the phone rings.

All info is at my fingertips just in case.
