Default How to successfully sell virtual items on ebay?

Well I have a simple question: what's the best way to sell virtual items on ebay?

As there is problems with no tracking, users complaining about not receiving the physical disc etc. Any tip?

And I am mainly talking about product keys/downloads (these are obviously unique keys issued by the actual company) and selling virtual currencies.

Thanks for any help.

Problem: everything possible. We don't suggest you sell digital goods. Ebay doesn't like it or their left hand (paypal). Does that mean you shouldn't? it's your ride, you do what you want right?

I'm not sure I've ever heard of anyone selling legit product keys but I guess this would be a first.

You can only sell it if you ship a CD. Otherwise, you'd have to list it in the Classified ads category. However, there are some sellers selling digital items sent by email. They will get suspended sooner or later. Experience.

Can you print it out - then post it with the cheapest tracking going?

Make the auction clear it is for the print out, not the digital thing.

As a free gift tell them they get an e-mail with the info too.

If they found out, instant-banned! If they don't, you are safe. But they will find out eventually, it is matter of time. Don't believe me, you can try it. I have seen many accounts that doing it, all banned, becoming not a registered user. Some are lucky, selling it for few months and having 100+ feedbacks but still get banned in the end.

I've just tried something new today, and it was successful.

The item has not been removed for around 23 hours. Well after these 23 hours it has been sold So I think this way I am doing atm is not that bad.

Also, would it be illegal if I copy the .ISO on a disc, and then ship it out with they key written on a piece of paper? Or even just send out the key on a paper, and give the user the download link via email?

What do you guys think?

I used to just sell virtual items. Eventually you will get suspended. It may be months later, but you will. Someone has to report you or eBay will find out somehow. In my experience, you have to ship a tangible item for it to work. If you do send by download, don't mention it in the description. But then again, you might get buyers who leave you negatives cause they thought it was a physical cd they were getting. It's too risky for long term.

You really gotta find something else to sell my friend, but you seem determined to go with virtual goods.

With this I also want to suggest you don't come back to the forum crying that your account(s) get banned because of virtual goods.

Good Luck.

Nah I won't cry about my accounts lol, I am currently testing it with 1 account which I do not care about, has like 20 feedback. It seemed to work with the first auction but that may just be luck. I am also not someone that cries on a forum if they make a silly mistake

Back on topic, the reason why I'm selling virtual goods is because they are quite easy to get, although hard to sell.
