Default eBay could start to allow cell phone verifications...

In certain countries, where cell phone numbers are different from regular land lines, eBay hasn't been allowing them to be used to verify an eBay account. Japan is one of those countries and I believe the UK and others as well. But from what I see now, eBay is recommending its sellers to place a cell phone number on file to be used for account verification when they can't verify your land line, like when you're traveling or not at your usual workplace. For this to work, eBay would need to start allowing the use of cell phones for their verification.

Am I right or am I right? :D

Actually i use a cell for verification. 416 numbers in toronto are used for landlines and cell phones and 647 numbers are used for cell phones. Whenever i tried verifying it with a 416 cell number it always worked. I think the system gets confused. Not sure if its fixed yet since i havent used it in a bit.

Yeah, in the US and Canada it works, because cell phones have the same area codes and the same amount of numbers as land lines. But it doesn't work for other some other countries ..yet.

It may start working in the UK then this summer. Because why would they request sellers to add their mobile phone to their eBay profile in case you're traveling?

I've tried in the UK, and they only accept 01/02 numbers (I'm pretty sure).

Maybe they have a different verification system for listing items, than they do for opening up an account.
