Buyer Marked As Paid

and its the little hour glass

but its not paid....... huh?

I've contacted to ask how they are paying but no reponse... and i have another one today? what are they doing mailing me an envelope with money?

check the email address in the auction associated with Paypal. There may be an error there for unclaimed money.

BigCJ 11-08-2012 10:44 AM

Probably a pending payment or an echeck

Global 11-08-2012 03:30 PM

possibly ebay trying to ensure they get their fees one way or another...in other words your buyer is saying they 'will be paying' so they will be expecting the fees...

NGALO1983 11-08-2012 03:38 PM

Yes

Its an e-Check. Just dont mail anything yet until the payment is in because Paypal is not responsible if you ship item before payment as it says on the page. Trust me! I made this mistake along time ago. Alot of scammers like to pay this way then they send you a message if you can mail it now since they already paid using e-Check then e-Check comes out bad and you complain to Paypal that you shipped it already and buyer says you did not...To make a long story short...You will get screwed #LessonLearned

It may be an e-check or it could be the buyer clicking the payment sent button in the menu (usually in 'my ebay' next to the won auction) after they won the item. This is a stupid holdover from the ebay of old where sending money orders was the common way of payment. Some buyers will click that link to try and delay an UPI case or trick the seller into sending the item before it is actually paid. If it is an actual E-check, you will be able to see it by logging into paypal.

ebay doesnt allow buyer to pay by check do they?

rsot 11-09-2012 06:52 AM

When you hover the mouse on the hour glass -does it say Buyer Marked as Paid?

If yes and he has not contacted you, it means that he might be trying to dupe you or avoid the transaction - if 5-7 days have passed with no contact, open an unpaid item.

Not quite sure what you mean.

Some sellers may accept personal checks & have that stated in their listing.

Some buyers may not have full access to paypal funds & complete payment by way of e-check.

Hi,
I had several buyers over the last 16 yrs on eBay do this.
Last week, I sold a buyer an item,price $75,shipping$18
Then, same buyer bought another of same item,at price of $79'shipping$18.(flat) for this size/weight item.
Buyer pays for the first auction.Then..
Anyhow, buyer emails me to combine, for a lesser shipping. I explained they are pre packaged, ready for labels, and his cost was my cost.
Even trying to tape the 2 ,would result in 2 x weight, but with dimensions, still same price ups x2.
That day, I shipped item one, send buyer a dup invoice for item 2.
Later, before ups comes for daily pickup,I go in and check to see if he had paid for the second item.
He did not. He did however, leave the "hourglass" icon, marking it as payment sent.
I immediately knew it was either :
A.) a ploy to hopefully confuse me,to thinking he paid, and ship anyhow,
Or
B.) him sending me a subliminal message,that it's a standoff..lower the shipping,ir I won't pay?.

Anyhow, I resend him the invoice, and in all caps, state..you paid for auction 1'
If you would like this item sent on today's ups, please pay for item 2.

SORRY FOR THE LONG DRAWNOUT explanation..but I could see all the ideas going into this thread,I read it yesterday, with today, still more guesses..
You see, whe it is paid via Echeck, two things happen,
1. PayPal themselves will mark it as payment pending, just hover the mouse over the hourglass to confirm.
And most importantly,
2. You just check your email in box, and whammo..you've got a payment from PayPal,but not the ok to ship email, it has the estimated clearing date.
Absent of any of the two above, and confirmed by you merely hovering your mouse over that hourglass ,it is just the buyer doing it for some odd,but mostly cynical reason.
Good luck.

This just happened to me. Buyer marked items paid but obviously he didn't pay at all. More scammers on eBay...sigh...
