competitor has purchased item from me!

hi guys,

have been selling high risk items on ebay for around a year successfully,
i started another account which i believe to be linked to me own due to not reading through the stealth guide first (and not finding this website in time)

on the new account a seller with high feedback has purchased an item from me and paid, he is selling the same as i am, before i post his item today is there anything i can do to warn ebay or protect myself from him? before he goes to ebay first and then resulting in my possible suspension

thanks
john

Just what might you say to ebay that is even going to sound sensible or be sensible? Not a lot.

If your feeling is this will go 'bad' cancel the sale for any reason you want.
refund, butter the buyer up....
I gather you dont like the possibility of grief?

Or just ship and man up to your products - the decision is yours. Not that hard to make a decision.

What kind of category you selling?

he could be out of stock and want to buy it quick and it will work out fine or he might want to neg you or start a dispute. If you cancel he can neg you anyway, if it was his intention....up to you.

It is Christmas time and people do buy with the intent to dropship and make some profit too

Ive decided from past experince, to cancel the sale and give full refund - saying we didnt have the item in stock. Will butter him up as you put it. Confident with my items but not with these situations as ebay seem to take action without hearing both sides of the story and with little feedback for this type of item and history of sales i dont think they would even want to listen to me.

The worst feedback is that he can say they said they didnt have it in stock, to which my reply would agree and apologise.

thanks for your thoughts tho guys

explain to him that you don't have it in stock or found the item is defective. Tell him that you are trying to be honest, don't want to sell him something damaged. Ask if he could cancel the transaction and of course offer him full refund at the same time. Most of the people would just cancel the transaction for you.

Why not message him and say your purchase raised a red flag since he sells the same item.
