Default We Discussed Label Printers... Now Lets Discuss

Everyday printers

Mine has just died on me after many years of great service. It was a cheap Epson that i could buy dirt cheap inks for which was the appeal. It also had a photocopier which proved invaluable.

I cant even find this model printer on ebay now its so old.

What i am looking for in my printer. Cheap printer, cheap inks, photocopier isnt necassary but would be a bonus.

Any tips peoples?

I have an HP LaserJet P3005DN
It uses toner and NOT ink.
It is networkable.
It holds 500 sheets of paper.
This saves you a lot of money on the long run.
The drawbacks are is it does not do color.
It is black & white ONLY.

But the toner vs. ink is fantastic.
It might take me 1 year to go through a $100.00 toner cartridge.
That is about 8,000 - 10,000 sheets of paper a year.
Do the math and see what it would cost you to print 10,000 sheets using ink cartridges.......

if you can live with the limitation, a laserjet is definitely the way to go. prices have really become reasonable and they are well worth it and most can handle a decent load.
for what you are asking you need a simple all in one. i like to stick with hp but it's tough to use aftermarket inks with them. do you have an ipad by any chance? id make sure to get an all in one that supports air print. you can find some models for about $80 that do all that you say

I dont mind not having colour printing so its looks like laserjet is the way to go.

I cant find that model of HP. Probably discontinued.

I have a HP Photosmart its so juicy on ink so I would avoid.

HWGA is right - need a laser printer to get the most out of it. If you look at laser and you dont mind having no colour, look for HP.

It is discontinued from HP.

You can drop the model name into eBay and there are many of them for under $200.00
They are good for 200,000 - 300,000 printed pages.
Mine has a page count of 55,000.

I swear by Brother laser printers/label printers. I have an old trusty b/w HL-2140 and a QL-700 thermal label printer. High-capacity toners for the 2140 are $11...ridiculously cheap.

Inkjet is a waste unless you're printing pro-quality graphics.

Brother is good for price - ink cartridges are on the so so end, pricewise so that's ok - only tip is if the printer starts fugging up, best to toss it and not worth repairing....repairing can cost more than the printer itself.

If you print 10+ labels a day a Laser Printer is likely the way to go. Standard black and white business set up. I have had good luck with the two HP LaserJets I have purchased. Both have been workhorses for multiple years. If you are use to inkjet once you have a laserjet you never want to go back. Best thing I ever did was break my inkjet printer because it caused me to buy laser printer
