Default Stealth Acct Banned. Why?

Just logged into eBay and got this message:

I think my account was detected because I was using VPN to connect to the Internet. The VPN said I was located in Virginia, which is where the account was registered. I had a selling limit of 10 and listed 9 items right away. Maybe I shouldn't have listed 9 right off the bat. I dunno. 5 days after listing the items, the ban happened. What do you guys think could have resulted in this ban?

What VPN did you use buddy?

Most are saturated now and are linked to loads of eBay accounts...

Yeah it could be either because of the VPN or because you listed 9 items right off the bat. I'd go with saying its becauseyou listed the 9 items. Bit tough to tell...best advice is to start slow.

What kind of items were you selling? High risk vero? Need more details to help

Selling low risk used retro video games that I've been wanting to get rid of from my house. LOL. Not Disney DVDs or Beach Body or anything like that.

I don't think listing 9 items right off the bat should make any difference, because it's within the selling limit imposed on the account and I could easily see somebody creating an eBay account and listing multiple items to clear out items from their house.

I'm quite sure it's the VPN. The VPN I used is www.privateinternetaccess.com.

sacka,

It's likely a combo of these>

VPN, bletch.

items being sold: now this is the double whammy. ebay sometimes sees those as high risk. Why? Buyers complain even if the item was listed as 'used'. File claims, yadda , yadda.

Enough for ebay to react as it has.
What's the feedback & has the account an attached paypal?
If low on FB, then all the more reason for ebay to perceive chance of hassles

VPN = risky. USED Video games could be risky too from the get go. So multiple flags going on.

Not too late to restart since relatively new account.

I just reset my router, stick to the basics. No more VPNS for me. You want REAL internet providers not "hosting" providers.

The account had 0 feedback, and yes it was attached to Paypal. I'm not too worried because I'll just start a new account, but it's still annoying. Probably will use VPS this time.

It's been stated 1,000x that VPN = No Good

VPS is somewhat safer but I would not use that route either if you have other options.

LOL yeah. And now I've learned from personal experience that VPN is no good.

What's wrong with VPS? You get your own Dedicated IP address. Does eBay have a list of IPs that are likely associated with a VPS service?

The problem is you are sharing the IP with hundreds of other users, (one of these blokes gets suspended and takes everyone with them ). Even if they tell you it is static or dynamic - it is likely shared. The only reasonable way to use a vpn or vps for stealth is to inquire if you can get a private reserved IP for your own use. These are much more expensive than the shared IPs.

Not all VPN providers are bad. You need to find one that isn't one of the bigger guys that hasn't been flagged by eBay yet. I know a lot of people that use a VPN for eBay.

And unless you go thru an idiot for a VPS - it's the way to go. You have a Dedicated IP solely reserved for every single VPS. They work like magic

For a Long term business VPN = Bad

If you must go that route then yes a VPS is much safer.

I dont use VPNs because then you have no control over what the other users are using it for, and you may be sharing an IP
